I apologize in advance if this topic has been asked before, but I just wanted to get general advice on growing the AMEX BCE. When I was approved for the card, my SL was $1000 that was this March 21, 2017. On May 22nd I believe, I applied for a CLI and got a 7-10 day message. When I received the letter they sent me, they highlighted the following:
Negatives:
- Internal Risk score of 692 pulled from Experian on May 10th.
- Not enough history with American Express
- Short Credit History AAoA at the time of application 4 mos.
- Not to many accounts showing satisfactory credit management (lack of any other forms of credit like mortgage and or other personal loans.)
But when I compare these with my Experian report, the 3rd and 4th reason did not make any sense to me. My longest credit is 9 mos. old at the moment, decreased since adding AMEX and Discover last March.
Experian Negatives:
Length of Credit History
Experian Positives:
Payment History - Exceptional
Amount of Debt - Very Good, I always keep my Utilization at 3% to 5% max per month. I do this by just leaving small balances before the statement cuts
Credit Mix - Very good (This contrasts differently from what AMEX says that I do not have enough accounts that show satisfactory reports.
Amount of New Credit - Fair
I guess my question is, has anyone applied prematurely prior to the 90 days waiting period following a denial? I am personally waiting until Sept. before I try to request for a CLI again. Hopeful that I would get some success by then, because I do need it to help move my Fico scores up. But has anyone tried applying for a CLI and had been successful in getting one prior to the 90 days waiting period? Just curious.

In regard to your question, if you apply again prior to 90 days, you will be auto denied. Just try to be patient.

Thank you so much for answering my question, and yes, I am trying my hardest to be patient, I guess I just got a high from receiving an auto limit increase from Discover yesterday. Which actually followed a denial on the online CL increase I submitted Saturday. So that was what prompted me to ask this question. I will definitely wait till Sept. to apply for the Increase.
