Amex Delta Gold Question

So, as I stated before. I want to get an Amex Delta gold.

I just moved off secured status with Discover ($500) and got a CLI to 2k. Not reporting yet on fico or CK. Do I wait until next month when Discover reports the increase? Or does it not matter as far as getting the card? I would like to start with a 1k limit for an upcoming trip. I am also pre-approved.

Bonus Question. Does it matter if I use the Amex site that preapproved me or if I use the Delta website that is asking me to pay for my trip by applying for the Delta Amex card?

Also which company do they pull credit from? Is it all 3?

Discover 2k

Captial One $300

Credit One $450

Re: Amex Delta Gold Question

Amex pulls Experian. If you're preapproved, I'd say go for it just to see if you can get in with Amex. You'll probably get a low limit ($500 or $1000) but I'd say it's still worth it to apply and get started with them. What are your scores like? Any derogatory marks on the credit report?

And I don't think it matters which site you apply through. If the sign up bonus on the Amex site vs the Delta site are different, then obviously go with the better sign up bonus. Other than that I don't think it matters.

Re: Amex Delta Gold Question

I would wait and get that score higher. Pre approved dont always mean guarantee approval. I would wait until they are over 670 or so before applying to get a better starting SL. Good Luck!!!

Re: Amex Delta Gold Question

I was approved for $500 on the Amex ED at 641, I believe. Was just auto increased to $1000 after completing their "credit steps" terms which is have a balance due every month for 6 months and pay on time and then you're eligible for an increase. If you apply you might end up with something like this.

The poster who said you should wait until you're above 670 to apply has a point. But if you absolutely can't wait to do things (like me, lol) then you should apply but be prepared for a small SL.

Re: Amex Delta Gold Question

Definitely wait till it's higher or you'll be like me and get a low SL of $1000. Lol.

Actually, 1k is my goal lol I would be ok with that.

I'm going to wait till Discover reports the increase. Get my cards down to zero, currently at 11% and apply. I love to travel so may as well get something that helps me with traveling. I'll report back on or around the 7-9th of the month when everything is reported.

Re: Amex Delta Gold Question

I would wait until Discover reports, it will show Amex you have experience with "other" higher limit cards. Which may make them think you deserve more than 1K SL. Or not, who knows. Having only the $500 Secured staus when you apply, may be a limiting factor though.

It's only a month to wait. lol

Re: Amex Delta Gold Question

I was approved with an experion score of 626. Applied and was approved for $1000. I’d say go for it! Amex preapprovals are more accurate than most. GOOD LUCK!

Re: Amex Delta Gold Question

Howdy!!

AMEX pulls your EX report. If your credit is at least 638 then you should get approved (assuming you don’t have any baddies). The starting limit is $1,000 on the card, so you will not see a $500.00. Discover reported VERY fast for me when I got my card, so I would wait for the Discover Card to post the increase and then apply. Not for the score, but to show the limit. It might help you get a higher amount.

Good luck! 🕺🏾
