Hey guys, currently I only have a discover card with a low cl, and I really want to get an AMEX card. So I applied for Amex Gold last month at 9.21.2019, and I was denied due to high credit utilization rate. Amex asked me to wait 30 days. Now, I paid off all the balance and checked the pre-qualify page, I found that I got Amex gold pre-qualified with 35000 sign up bonus.
I also checked the application page without using the prequalify tool, and I see the 50000 sign up bonus page. So can I use the public page to apply instead of using the prequalify page in order to get the 50000 sign up bonus? Will I get denied again? I'm going to have a trip in next month, so I really want to have my first Amex charge card now.
My current experian score is about 742.
My balance is 0.
Only one card of discover: 1500cl
Question: Is Amex pre-qualify solid enough? Should I apply using the pre-qualify page (35000 bonus) or a pulic page (50000 bonus)?
I'm pretty new to the credit card area.
The prequalify is almost 100%. If you want the bigger sub, open an incognito or private browser window and apply through there. If you're an existing member it should be a SP and you'll get the bigger bonus.

go for the 50K if you're going to do it since you can only claim it 1 time ever.
they said wait 30 days because the system will auto deny you if you do it again sooner.
does your spend line up with Gold for long term use or are you just after the MR's?
$250 AF cuts that bonus in 1/2 unless your'e planning on redeeming for travel then it's only 1/3 of the bonus points.
Does it matter or not if the apr is one or a range? What was the apr OP?
I plan to hold the Amex gold for more than 1 years. Currently I spend at 1500 in Wegmans each month and about 1500 in dinning. I really want to have the gold card because I'm pretty sure I can use it to get some awards. The problem that bothered me is whether should I apply through the pre-qualify page or public page. I believe that 15000 MR difference is huge, but I really don't want a denial again for this time. So, if there is a bigger chance of getting approved through pre-qualify page, I would definitely use that to apply.
APR doesnt really bother me. I would pay in full each month. Amex pre-qualify tool doesn't give me a specific APR, only a range.
Thank you. So I can apply using 50000 bonus instead of applying through pre-qualify page, right? Will there be any difference?
