Amex Hilton Honors Verification?

Hi, just joined but been reading and learning here for a few weeks now. Husband applied for Hilton Amex with no AF. Got an email that they needed to verify income. We uploaded documents online. We are both on Social Security Disability and have a joint checking account, except our direct deposits do not go to that account. Uploaded both our Social Security benefit letters and a bank statement.

A few days later I checked the status. It said "canceled" where before it had a link to upload documents. The decision letter was still the same one saying proof of income needed.

Then a letter came in the mail saying same thing. I would have called but my husband doesn't do well with financial stuff and talking to customer service, but his Credit is better than mine so we apply in his name.

Anyway, I went ahead and mailed copies of the same documents, plus copy of our marriage license because my name change has not completed on the Social Security letters yet, and included a letter explaining reason for including that and that our direct deposits go into other accounts but we share all Income and the joint checking account. Told them we have a trip coming up this month and are staying at Hilton and hope to use this card for that and future trips.

So... then decided to try calling the number for app status too. The recording says it needs verification of Address. Does not mention verification of income. Ugh. So I guess the Income documents we uploaded were good enough. Well I would think the Social Security letters we sent would work for address verification, right?

Anyone else been through anything similar? If so, how did it turn out?

My husband has limited credit history but has been working on building Credit. I would guess them wanting so much verification we might have a shot?

I would tend to agree. Keep sending what they ask for - you verified finances and they are still looking for other info, which implies that financially they’re satisfied you can uphold the cardmember agreement. Location verification is just making sure you’re who and where you say, so I would think the hurdles are cleared and now it’s final details to approve you.

Re: Amex Hilton Honors Verification?

ImTheDevil Thanks, I hope so! We don't really travel much (although we'd like to at some point) but our upcoming trip is for Medical reasons and not having to stress as much over the cost would be nice. Hopefully if approved we'll get the card in time (by April 14).

I hope so too. I also do a lot of medical travel, as we live in NY and my wife was forced to transfer her heath care to the Cleveland Clinic due to incredible local incompetence, so we make that trip monthly. Having the Hilton cards is definitely a nice thing for us, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy and benefit from it too.

Interesting. If I remember right I was able to accomplish some verification over the phone with a live CSR. I'd call and find an actual person to talk to. Maybe they could clarify everything for you.

Good Luck!

If you get approved, ask if they’ll FedX it at your expense. There is nothing as maddening as waiting for a CC when you need it ASAP. It’s like watching for a pot of water to boil. Ugh!
