I nreceived a $800 starting limit on the ED this morning.
Can I recon for a higher limit now ?
Thanks for any info ahead of time.
I am sure that this ques has been asked a million times.......![]()
I would mlike a little higher SL if possible.
I don't recall seeing any success stories of recon on SLs and $800 means it was a marginal approval. As Gmood1 said, log into your account and request a new credit line of $2400 when you activate the card. If turned down, ask 61 days after you get the card. If turned down, ask 91 days after that. Then mark your calendar to ask for $7200 (or 3x your limit if they gave you less than $2400) 181 days after that, and $21,600 181 days after that, etc...
I am in a similar position. Got the Premier Gold last week and saw that there was a 250 sign-up bonus for the Blue Cash Everyday. So I signed up and was approved for 1000 dollars. I make 180k a year so this is not much. I did the score simulator on Credit Check Total and adding a new account did not effect my score.
My Experian FICO is 701. So I am guessing it is the 17 new cards since January that is what is holding me back from higher limits. Also AU on 68k of cards from my wife. Utilization less tthan 5 percent.
If people don't have success with recon's at activation is it worth doing? Will Amex care that you seem to be begging for more credit? Sorry if this threadjacking but I added my wife as authorized user but didn't put her birth date or ssn down. Will that keep it off her report? I want her to be elibigle for another Chase card.

i started off with a low CL on my BCP which turned into a bce, just gradually increased it every few months so if you are patient. You can increase your CL that way.

It's exactly the new cards and it was a "we don't want to deny you, but we have our concerns" approval. My wife got her ED card last year with 200k+, FICO 08 was about 775 at the time, all other limits pretty much in the $10-27k range (except for a single Kohls card at their max of $3k), and she had been an AU on 3 of my Amex cards for about 13 years during which time they easily saw $500k+ of spend - only approved for $2000, but that went to $4k quickly, then $12k just after, and she'll be asking for $36k at the next 181 day interval.
So don't worry too much about it - use it and pay it and you could possibly have a $27,000 credit line in 14 months. While FICO scores are only a part of the Amex decisions, people do seem to have a bit better luck past the 720 Experian mark so try to hold off on the new accounts (which I assume is the primary reason for your score being suppressed) for a while.
