hi guys, I recently applied for a BoA alaska airlines visa sig card and was denied because of not having enough accounts and because of collections accounts. Made the mistake of not apping for multiple on same day.. called recon and they said they couldn't do anything about it.
I went to the Amex page and saw that I prequalified for the ED and the Blue Cash ED cards with no special intro APR offers. It gave a specific APR of 23.74 and in the terms even says this:
"The initial credit limit will be $500. You will receive an increased credit limit if you (a) have an amount due on each of your first five billing statements, (b) pay at least the minimum amount due on those statements by the due date, (c) are not past due on the credit report we review at the time we evaluate the credit limit increase, (d) meet federal requirements for ability to pay, and (e) haven't already received a credit limit increase."
Does that mean I have a pretty good chance of getting it if they've laid out an exact limit and plan for CLIs? Also, should I apply through the prequal page only or through the main site to try to get the intro APR offers?
Also saw that Amex did soft pulls on my EX for these prequal offers
I am an authorized user on my husband's credit cards across Chase, Cap1 and Discover for about 45k total and I had 3 cards of my own back in 2005-2006 that I closed. No late payments.
I do have 4 collections - 3 under $50 that were paid and about 2-3 years old, and 1 for ~$800 from Aug 2015 that was disputed 2 months ago and is on the report with a dispute notation. It was removed off my TU but is still on my EX and EQ.
My fico scores are EX - 643, TU - 745, EQ - 641.
EX - 4 inquiries, TU - 1 inquiry, EQ - 2 inquiries.
sounds very good!
Thanks to both replies!
Sounds good / reliable even with my open collections from less than 2 years ago (albeit I am disputing it)?
I got a prequalified offer from Amex in the mail. It had an exact APR, it did not have a range......I used the web address that was in the mailing and I was approved for $4000....I was denied for this card every time I applied in the past 10 years.
I also forgot to say that I didn't get a hard pull from Amex! I have already gotten my card, it's been almost 3 weeks and still no pull on my Credit reports.

Yes Amex prequalifications are solid, and yours is a true prequalification.
If your EX score is as high or higher than it was a month ago, you have a good chance of being approved.
