Amex Referral Question

DW has a Amex Gold card. I have a Gold, Delta Gold and a Blue Business Plus. DW wanted a BCP, so I sent her a referral for the Gold card. (Can't send a BCP referral since I do not have the card) She clicked email link, then the top left drop-down (displayed as "referred cards" or something similar) and chose all cards, picked BCP from the list, app'ed and was approved.

So... will I get the referral? Or am I grasping at straws here? (So far, no notification I got a referral, although never tried, so not sure what I'm looking for here)

I think you should still get the referral.

That was my thinking too, but I'm not sure how it'll be processed. I guess we'll see. I'll keep you guys updated.

You will get the referral bonus. I have the same two personal cards as you. A couple months ago, I sent a referral link, from the Gold, to a relative who had one of the Hilton cards. The relative used the referral link to app, successfully, for a BCE. I got the bonus. The points showed up in my account about a week after the card was approved. I also got the Home Improvement bonus, and my relative got the BCE SUB and a Home Improvement bonus. There wasn't much communication from Amex along the way, but they delivered everything they had promised.

Great! Just for clarification, did you get the same number of points had they signed up for the Gold? Since all my cards are points based, I'm not sure how Amex calculates the equivelent. Thanks for the heads up though! At least I know I'll get something out of it.

You'll get the referral for the card you sent the link for. If you used the Gold card I'm assuming it's anywhere from 10k-30k pts for the referral bonus regardless of which card the referrer applied and got approved for whether it's cash, points or miles
