Re: More evidence attempting to beat the system "WILL" eventually catch up with you!

Gaming the system = Greed. Plain and simple, it’s just greed. ...and greed catches up with you eventually.

People know the difference between right and wrong. People know what an offer is meant for. If they chose to venture outside of the intended spirit of an offer, they do so for greed and I have no sympathy for them.

To me, my reputation is worth more than gaming the system for a few bucks that were earned fraudulently.

This produces my auto-response: Do you ever speed?   Park longer than strictly allowed?   etc

Generally people disapprove of things they don't currently do, but are in fact equally questionable in other areas!

And "reputation" with a credit card issuer?   Not sure that there really is such a thing.

Your comparison is apples to oranges. I'm not greedy. It's just simple.

And I said nothing about reputation with a credit card company specifically, but more in general. To play to your claim however, I learned long ago to never risk burning bridges anywhere.

I don't really think you can call someone greedy for getting one over on a bank. All of us have been screwed by banks one way or another - they're all businesses and they are all here to make a profit. Greed is a term that should always be used to describe them and not their customers IMO.

With that said, people coloring outside of the lines do so at their own risk. I have no sympathy for them but I also don't have any for the banks either.

I think gaming that clearly has the intent of financial gain that is obviously not intended is a little worse than speeding or parking too long.  If those involved some kind of financial gain made from it, it would be fraud.

I do believe there is reputation with a lender. If you have a good one, you are one of the first to get preferred offers, where others wont ever see.

Say what? If it doesn't explicitly say you can't do something, it's definitely not fraud. Abuse and fraud are very far apart.

Speed limits and parking policies are listed in black and white with no room for interpretation.

It is difficult using the speeding and parking example for fraud, but here it goes. I have a device on my phone I use at the police station to rig the radar detectors, so that if i drive 80, it shows 65. Or I have a friend who works at the police station and I have him wipe out my parking or speeding ticket. If i get caught,  using the defense that it wasn't explicitly stated that I could not do that would NOT hold up as a valid defense lol. I would be prosecuted.

Using yourself as a new cardholder to open accounts to get a referral fee is fraud. It is pretty clear what they intended regarding who can be referred. Friends,  family, etc. Even though they probably won't prosecute, they will shut down all of one's accounts.

As for gaming, it's not fraud, but it can cause account closure. Opening a card, getting a SUB, then closing it is gaming. Also using the card only fot the 5% categories is also gaming. It might not get your account closed,  but it could result in a CLD or other action to discourage use of the card. I participate in no gaming. That's why I use all my cards for at least one 1% transaction per billing cycle.

Requesting a CLI daily is also gaming. There can be a glitch in the software which allows most of them to go through, or maybe none to go through, and you get no benefit from it. But they record each of those, and it's one thing that makes them go hmmm.

Gaming does not put you in good graces with the issuer. I try to avoid that.
