Hi All,
Quick question: I got my first AMEX card, the BCP, in April 2021. I am interested in getting the Gold card soon as well so that they can grow together. If I applied in the coming days/weeks, will this be a soft pull from AMEX? For denial? For approval? I've heard about future applications being soft pulls once you're already in with AMEX, but I'm not sure if that's only if you've been in for several months/years. I called AMEX, but they claimed to not know about this. What do you guys think?
Thank you in advance for your insight.
It's YEMV. While in the majority of cases it can be SP, there's always a potential instance where it isn't. Tenure with AmEx seems to be a denominator by most reported DPs, but if you decide to pull the trigger, it's anyone's guess if it'll be SP/HP. You can definitely update this thread with the results once you apply.

I have like 6 Amex cards. The only hard pull I got was on my first card. Other cards were all SP's for me

It's almost always soft pull, but once in a blue moon it could be a hard pull. So unless you're willing to risk a hard pull, don't apply.

@Anonymous - I have >15 (personal and business -- charge/revolvers). Some of mine were HPs, and I expected it.

Yes, 19 to be precise (including former products no longer available such as ZYNC + partner cards with Schwab and Morgan Stanley) -- all with AENB.
