Amex application "In progress" status. Approved?

When my DW double app'd, she was approved for the ED and Delta went to "in progress". 

She called in and they said it was 'flagged' due to their policy of 1 application every 5 days or something.  They said she could call back in 5 days to see what was going on.  Well this was on a Thursday.  She waited until the following Tuesday and called.  The nice rep stated it's usually 5 business days but that he would look into it and get it "processed" within 24 hours.  He would also make sure that a supervisor took a look to get it done ASAP.  All of this without her asking or anything.

She was prepared to wait a couple more "business" days and call back.  Well about 30 minutes after she got off the line with him, she got the approval email and the online status changed to Approved. 

So I say call back and try, try again

If AMEX we're going to deny you they would have already, so at least you have that in your favor.

Not sure what happened here but just read this even though is old.

i am too waiting and "in progress" as of June 26th 2015.  Applied for amex everyday and denied, called recon the next day and lady said she would send recommendation for approval.  Same day I got denied, their status website showed "denied" right away.  After recon, changed to "in progress"

Still waiting and still shows "in progress"

I applied for amex blue cash everyday card and got denied on 12/19/16 for a low fico score of 659 so I sent a recon letter on the 19th later that weekend my status changed from denied to in progress. now today is 12/28/16 and the status still says in progress. i called the number the other day to see if there was any progress to my app and rep said its under review of documents I sent such as paystubs and accounts I have open and low utilization under 15% then she asked if I am approved they would expedite my card. Has anyone been through this outcome if so what should i do or expect thanks

I just went through this about 3 weeks ago! Was approved for the BCE and the Delta Card. $3,000 SL. My score pulled was 727. Went Intl pending for about 10 days while they reviewed and verified everything! Good Luck!! And baddies?
