That's interesting you got a business card with them after the "burn".

It may be that they're only ok with you having business cards and not personal cards at this time.

i have seen this on the forum  before. So definetly possible.  But personal is much different than Corporate.

I burned Amex in my 2013 BK. Recently got a prequal letter but when tried to apply was immediately denied (no HP) and letter came telling me I was denied because of previously closed accounts (aka blacklist). Wondering if getting a Hilton or Marriott Amex will help me rebuild trust with Amex or if Amex doesn't watch or care about those cards.

Op how much did you burn Amex before?

It's not unheard of. More than likely it's corporate sponsored and guaranteed. The gray area for a blacklisted person is if they can be added as an AU and their SSN doesn't keep it from being opened or shut down. At that point, they're probably not far from getting back in.

Re: Amex card question

I remember trying to get my ex-wife to add me to her AMEX a couple of years ago and would never process it. I burned them in BK7 back in 2012 and now I get pre-approvals for their cards but I am not risking it until at least I get my UTIL down by another 10%+

Re: Amex card question

What was the amount you owed of burned Amex for? If it is some thing you can afford, you can pay it off and get into their Good Graces. You can even ask for their Optima Rebuild card. After having Optima for 12 months you can apply for a regular card.

Best thing is communication and talking to them.  You can call them and ask them what you need to get back into their good graces.
