Amex chances?? Please help !

So I just recently saw a member of this board get approved for the Amex ED card with a EX score of 651 - util 12% and inq @ 11...They also reported that they have 2 collections and a charge off, all 5+ years old.

My question is, I've applied for amex maybe twice already this year and no love. Granted, my scores were roughly 20-30 points lower when I was trying. But today, here are my current stats:

EX: 651 / TU: 647 / EQ: 635 - Util @ 24% - EX INQ: 19 - 3 unpaid  Collections falling off 4/2016.

AAoA: 3 years 2 months Oldest: 9 years

Perfect payment history since October 2014 when I started rebuilding. My cards I currently have are in my signature.  My INQ the last 3 months is @ 0 as I have been gardening. Do you think I have a shot at getting approved with Amex? Should I wait maybe til the end of the year and try to get in with Amex then? By then I'm sure my scores will get better and accounts will age more. Any help or insight would be tremendously appreciated!

Re: Amex chances?? Please help !

My current score are TU: 657 EQ: 660s EX: 673. I have over 30-40 inqs. on my report low 20% util. when I applied, in the 10% range now. 100% payment history, one baddie which was a $100 med bill which was closed and paid off. Many new accounts open, 21 years of age. One car loan in my name. I was approved for a green card and a blue in the same day... So either they're becoming less sensitive, or I got lucky. Both times the applications went into manual review. If I were you, I'd apply!

I'd wait until the end of the year.  You've already been declined twice in 6 months and they go back further than 3 months in looking at the number of your inquiries.  There is no hurry and Amex will be there when your overall credit file is better.

Re: Amex chances?? Please help !

Between 4-5 different cards I had applied for over the last 4 months, I was denied for all. And then I waited 2 more months and app'd and was approved for two cards. I must have gotten some reps who pushed my manual review through.

INQ's are most likely a red flag with such a short history since this is who they pull from and in some cases EQ as well for a double pull ....Less than a year and 19 on EX which makes me wonder what EQ and TU look like?

What was the reason given for the denials? Correcting whatever they listed is probably the key to your acceptance

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

A few inq were from applying for a lease, the rest were just being hungry trying to rebuild and get my foot in the door with lenders. Most of my INQ are from last year, Oct/Nov/Dec, very few in 2015. The reason in the letters is always "SERIOUS DELINQUENCY OR COLLECTION" "SCORE TOO LOW" "TIME REVOLVING HISTORY HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED" ...I can't recall too many new accounts being a reason, but I could be wrong. It wont let me view the previous apps results online anymore. My INQ on TU and EQ are roughly 10-12. When I started in October my scores were in the high 500s, today they are mid 600s roughly. Last time I applied for Amex was in May. I just got excited I guess when is aw someone post approval for amex with baddies and a 650 EX score with a lot of INQ.

You're right. There is no hurry, just an itchy trigger finger since I have been gardening for almost 3 months now..I guess they call this withdraws? haha..By the end of the year a lot of accounts will be at the 1+ year mark and I plan on bringing util % down to >10%

Re: Amex chances?? Please help !

I appd for Amex in April with a 645 ex and a 6+ year old judgement, my util was 30%. Denied!!!!

I am gonna app next week ex708 util 9%. I don't have a good feeling though.

I would wait a few months and try again when your score is about 670.

A few inq were from applying for a lease, the rest were just being hungry trying to rebuild and get my foot in the door with lenders. Most of my INQ are from last year, Oct/Nov/Dec, very few in 2015. The reason in the letters is always

"SERIOUS DELINQUENCY OR COLLECTION" Major reason (#1)

Work on CR's for best results

"SCORE TOO LOW" Only time will heal this and applying every 6 months or 9 months won't change the facts of this (#3)

"TIME REVOLVING HISTORY HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED" ...you don't have a year of good credit history and have quite a lot of INQ's (#2) and still want to apply why?

It's not that serious and any and all cards will be there when your file/CR's are in better shape to be approved

I can't recall too many new accounts being a reason, but I could be wrong. It wont let me view the previous apps results online anymore. My INQ on TU and EQ are roughly 10-12. Key and valuable info in most cases are contained in a denial letter .....things you need to fix before they will approve your app so that being said unless you've fix the problem you'll see the same results except you'll aquire another HP which only will bring your scores down again and push you further back

Sorry but its the truth and I think you'd rather hear it from me than another denial letter

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
