I don't need anymore credit & thought I was done after getting Nordstroms card but..NOoooo..I had to try for amex one more time. I app'd in Aug & today, hopefully I am done! The first time I reconned and that process went on for 3 weeks. This time I'm not bothering. Thought my 675 EX fico & 1.5% util. was good enough, I was in denial. There are 2 old coll's. showing with O bal & inqs. I'm po'd at myself. Yes, they back date, I like that. But are they really that good or just
'the redheaded stepchild of credit cards?'
Sorry about your luck.
They don't backdate anymore.
I don't know whether or not there's anything particularly "great" about them, but my EveryDay has become my every day spend card. I put almost everything on it. I've never needed to call customer service for anything, so can't speak to how their CS is. But I've never had any problems... but the same could be said of every other lender I currently have an account with.
Also what card did you applly for? If it was a BCE/BCP ya those scores won't work, possibl with the Delta. Just curious. Sorry to hear of the mutual dislike and as others has echoed backdating no longer exists.

Ok, I feel better now.
CreditCuriousity: first time I app'd for blu cc, today it was delta gold. I reconn'd with calls, letter, etc. the first time and they told me to wait 6 mos. Btw, I like your posts, always well informed & positive.
thanks to you all!
As a data point I was able to 'squeak' by with a 695 and two six year old COs to get a Green and BCP, but when I say 'squeak' I really mean it... after the promo is over, I'll have an APR of 21.9%, and my credit limit is only $1k.
If you don't have luck this go around, give it a little time and try again!

Sorry to hear about your experience with Amex. I have thought to apply for Amex, but after reading so many threads with members like yourself that have good scores, low utilization and either get declined or a 500 to a 1,000 dollar limit. There are too many great lenders to get hung up on one. Congrats on your Nordstroms account.

I'm sorry that they turned you down. I think that they are a little bipolar. I guess the computer must have been misfiring when I got approved cause my score was around 660 and I still have 1 collection showing and my UTI was about 15% at the time. I have a 6 year old paid collection and I have some lates, so I don't kow what they are looking for. Congrats on the Nordstroms however.
IMO you are better off getting your foot in the door with a charge card

I think you're right. A charge card really doesn't suit me but it would be a start and when I was denied the 1st time one of their US reps told me it was 'easier' to get.
Part of me wants to take on the challenge since they have given me the finger twice & I am persistant. The other part knows that AE has themselves on a pedestal and truthfully there are many cards that more than equal theirs. Our Gov't bailed them out in 2009 to the tune of 3.4 billion ( thanks to the TARP fund & GWB.) They like to remind us that they are held to regulations & restrictions when it comes to lending but they don't seem to follow any guidelines when it comes to major transactions with domestic & foreign corporations.
