Amex green and gold card

Been thinking about getting the green or gold charge card but where I stand with my credit profile I don't know if I can get it I added a gamestop credit card that only been open for one month I've been starting my credit since almost a year now on my credit bureau experience has a total of 6 months of history 10 enquiries in a fico8 score of 667 And my oldest account is 10 months on ex What are the requirements to get any of the charge cards such as the green and the gold I seen people to get approed with thin file One of my cards is Max though I use 97% of it but I just now paid 50% of it it should report by September And that should bring me around 700 give or take Thanks for reading please help me

Re: Amex green and gold card

I recently applied for the Green card and got NPSL pretty easily, I have a thin file but have been building my scores up. My CS is 749 according to TU, wasn't approved instantly however; they verified some information and then gave me an approval over the phone. I further applied for the Amex Skymiles Blue Card, after some Recon; I came out of it with a $10k credit limit. Hope this gives you some insight into Amex's approval practices. Smiley Happy

Re: Amex green and gold card

Have you checked their prequalification site? Their prequals are generally pretty solid.

I’d definitely advise waiting to apply until after that balance you have reports the 50% utilization or lower (you mentioned September). Within reason, Amex is not known to be particularly inquiry or new account sensitive. How recently were the inquiries you have on Experian? Are all 10 on Experian?

Re: Amex green and gold card

OP, I believe some key elements to your questions have already been addressed by some members on your other thread:

As has been mentioned, continue to build history, tackle the high utilization and determine which of the two products would benefit you in the long run. Don't choose a CC just to see what's the "easiest" in terms of getting approved. Both Green and PRG have AFs, so consider the value.

Re: Amex green and gold card

The underwriting is similar for both, the AFs obviously aren't.

Have you done some research to determine which is more akin to align with your spending or lifestyle? You can visit the AmEx site and compare both cards side by side to determine which benefits provide what you're looking for.

Re: Amex green and gold card

I had a very thin file. I worked on my scores diligently with a secured card from my local credit union. I had 4 inquiries when I applied, I have about 11 now. All newly opened credit accounts.
