I burned Amex in a BK back in 2019 and today I got a custom offer code in the mail for the Hilton Honors card. I unfroze my experian report and did the pre qualify on their website but, nothing comes up and I put the info from the mailer in and it has my name on the card and all that kind of good stuff but, what I want to know is, is this legit ? Will I be wasting a hard pull or will they just flat out deny me if I burned them a few years ago without a hard pull ? I know it has to be closed to 6 years before you might get lucky and get back with them but, I figured I would ask the good people on here about this who might have gotten lucky a few years after burning them. Thanks !!!
I think if you are "Blacklisted" from AmEx then no HP?
Maybe someone else can confirm this?
You are correct! If you are blacklisted they will not do a hard pull.
@Irv02 I'll give a shot and report back shortly !!
I applied and got the decision by mail in 14 days so, I'm hoping it's not a hard pull.
I decided to check the application status online and after agreeing to do the internet decision route I got this >>>> Thank you for applying for the Hilton Honors American Express Card. We value your membership and appreciate your interest in another American Express Card. We're writing to let you know we cannot approve your application at this time because American Express cancelled your previous account(s). I'm going to assume there is no hard pull for this. Experian is usually pretty quick letting me know if there was a pull or not.

@Bippy_33, Sorry for the denial
Thanks for the update. I am almost certain, you will NOT receive a HP for that.
If bk, you need to wait at least 5 yrs, 1 mos to apply. If you just let it charge off, depending on the amount, you could be waiting 10 or 20 years, maybe never.
The mailers are all created using soft pull data. It won't be until you actual apply that they'll check their database and deny. This is usually no pull. If you receive a pull, but are still denied for previous relationship, you're in a gray area and may be approved in the near future. The only way to know where you stand with them is to apply.
@M_Smart007 It's all good & I appreciate you giving me the info earlier so I could pull the trigger. Thanks again !!

As confirmed upthread, no HP if you're still on their blacklist. Since you mentioned AmEx was IIB in 2019, it is unknown how long you could be on their BL, potentially 10+ years (give or take). That said, no harm in trying every so often since there will not be an HP until you're off the BL.
