Amex pre approval and chase

I went to the Amex pre approval site and got 3 choices, so I decided to try on with chase and got nothing. Now am just tempted on going for the Amex or just keep waiting till my score goes higher.

Did the Amex page say "We recommend" or "You are pre approved"

Honestly I don't remember, what would be the difference in this case?

Difference is that "we recommend" isn't a real pre approval whereas "congratulations, you are prequalified for the following cards" *is.*

Just tried it again and it gave me BCE, PC and AE. And it said we recommend the following cards.

Not a pre approval then. However, that doesn't mean you wouldn't be approved, either. It's your choice if you want to risk the HP. Post your stats (scores, any baddies, income, current cards) and we'll let you know what we think your odds are.

Score on the low 600 Fico. One credit card (CP ) on low utilization and the other (DI) paying it down. Since I had to use it. Some baddies. $40K. Car loan over a year now.
