Amex pre qualify please help.

I have been on a journey of improving my credit scores, my last medical collection fell off this week and my scores jumped to 673. I went to AMeX pre qualify and was surprised that it gave me pre approvals for DELTA AMEX, DELTA GOLD and the Hilton Honors card. Can anyone advise if I should take the HP hit or should I wait until My score goes up even more.

@Moni209, is the pre qualify a solid APR one number or a range of like 15.99-26.99% ?

Fixed APR Pre-Qual's are usually pretty solid, also if you pre-qual for "DELTA AMEX, DELTA GOLD and the Hilton Honors card"

If solid APR, You could cold app for Blue Cash Everyday, Cash Magnet, Blue Cash Preferred, Amex Everyday.

Re: Amex pre qualify please help.

You have an almost solid approval if you see a solid APR. On the other hand, I was prequalify for those same cards without a solid APR and still got approved for the Delta Gold, so YMMV. If your report has no baddies, your utilization is low (overall and with each card), then I say go for it. It's not 100% guarantee, but your chances are high.

Citi Double Cash: $1,000
Capital One Secured: $500

Amazon Store Credit Card: $6,000
Verizon Visa Card: $2,000

Where should I be seeing the solid APR number?

Click the "Rates and Fees". There you can see if your APR is in a range or you have a solid APR.

Re: Amex pre qualify please help.

@Moni209, It is a range, I would wait. It would probably end up a "denial".

Hope this helps.

Re: Amex pre qualify please help.

You could wait until your score is near 700 and have a solid APR offer. A soild APR is almost always a win. But like I said, you could get approved even within a range (like I did), especially if your credit report is "clean now" (and you don't have a lot of inquiries and high ultization). How risk tolerated are you for getting another HP that may result in a denial? Only you can decide that. Best of luck though!

Re: Amex pre qualify please help.

I think you do have a shot at the cards they are prequalifying you for since they are co branded cards.

Generally the cobranded cards are more lenient for approvals followed by the charge cards followed by the core cards.

As for as APR range, AMEX doesn't offer solid APR for non members with prequalified offers. At least 99% of the cases I've seen this has been true.

It's up to you if you want to apply or not. You could always wait a little bit since you just saw the offers yesterday. If they are there today, they will be there in a few weeks so long as nothing has changed in your profile.
