I have an Amex bcp and Amex gold personal card. I was wondering if the pay over time credit limit on my gold card would count towards the $35,000 threshold that everyone talks about ? I wanted to apply for another Amex, but I don't want to go through the hassle of a review. Thank you for your advice
I don't think so. And the $35k isn't set in stone. It's really profile dependent.
Also, you wouldn't have to go through a review (assuming you mean a financial review or FR); if anything, they'd ask for IV (income verification), which is merely one-time access to your bank accounts, or a few bank statements.

A financial review from Amex can be completely random. But, generally things that set off red flags triggering a Financial Review with Amex would be things like having a payment to them bounce, a notable, or drastic change in your spending patterns like for example you normally spend $1,200 a month, then all of a sudden you start spending $12,000 a month. Another red flag might be if for example you have a $3,000 CL but you are spending $15,000 a month on it by continually paying down the balance so you can continue to spend more. Abusing the check spending power feature has been reported to set off a red flag with them. If they notice you're opening a lot of new accounts could also raise a red flag.
As Omar said the 35K isn't something set in stone. Going over the 35K threshold alone shouldn't be a concern on it's own, as many people have available limits far above that amount and Amex doesn't even bat an eye. Again a financial review can happen randomly to anyone, but for the most part if you are using your cards responsibly and not constantly seeking credit, you may never hear a peep from them.
I'm sure others will chime in with their experiences, and knowledge.
Thank you !!
I assumed the $35k was per card.
My wife asked for $40k, they gave her $35k and requested financials for $40k.
We ignored the request and her limit has been $35k for months with no issues.
If you have a $35k POT, you are doing something right.

There is no 35k threshold, except that sometimes if you are requesting a CLI on a single credit card to 35k or higher they might ask for income verification.

In my personal experience, I don't think POT and a CL on their credit cards mix.
I have 2 Charge Cards with $30,000 POT and 1 with $25,000 and also 1 of my CC at $25,000.
I feel it is profile dependent.
hope this helps.
