Re: Amex?

I think no AMEX pre-quals is the indicator I would follow. Credit Karma has paid advertisers, no way there is any conflict of interest there.....

No baddies, no lates, the only thing holding me down is high util and several maxed out cards...that aren't maxed out anymore, but Capital One hasn't told anybody that yet.

Pizza, I MAY hit 670 in the next day or two, but util will still be over 50% for a while.

Don't apply until that utilization is way down regardless of your increased score.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought.  Methinks Amex doesn't like high util.

+1...yes...thats why I also said to have a lower util..  the lower the better!Smiley Wink

i saw your other post and this card wasn't listed in your "app spree" post. stop being confusing lol. why the need for so many BT cards? start with one and power pay. you'll be pissed when you obtain all these cards for BT and in two years you have 5 cards that are 100% pointless. get what you want and use it.

In two years I'll want different cards???  Smiley Tongue

App #3 is "some experian pulling BT card"...and I just HATE BofA.

oh what a pity because I was just about to mention BofA... if it is for a BT I would not select an Amex for this purpose ..they like PIF better even on their revolvers. With this utilization I would expect a denial..sorry

Re: Amex?

Sounds like you already got great advice so rather than add my 2 cents I'll point out something interesting about CK. Not that I pay much attention to their recommendations, but it always struck me as dishonest when they recommended Amex because Amex pulls experiana  and that's the one CB they don't have access to.

Re: Amex?

I hear AMEX pre qual never shows anything for ANYONE. I applied based on my CK score (before learning that theyre not even real scores) and was approved for $1000. My EX score was 637 with pretty high utilization -- about 68%.

Re: Amex?

I always tell my story.  I had a prequal for ED at 650ish EX and was denied. PIF Collection, Oct 2014. Late pay July 2014. Nov?/Dec 2015 app.

This week, i had/have (haven't looked today) the prequal for the Platinum at that drooling 100k MR offer.  I'm not APPing. Based on my profile, I'm aiming for 690 EX, 24mth past last late pay before I app again.  My collection is probably staying for the long haul, year 2020.

Re: Amex?

Thanks all.

I did NOT include Amex in my recent app spree, because frankly, I expected a denial.  Maybe later this year...maybe not.

I'm good for the moment tho.  Smiley Happy
