Are they sensitive to existing lines of credit.....suspect they are inquiry sensitive also. The Penfed Promis seems to be less attractive as far as rewards.......is this easy to get. I get popups for this card everytime I check my account .......was looking at one of the Defender cards for 1.5% as I qualify as a veteran.

I'm not sure there are any u/w differences between their cards. I'd just apply for the one that best fits your needs. If I were you I'd go for the defender card.

They are inquiry and new account sensitive in my experience. I received the Defender offer and took the bait back in December and they politely shot me down initially and on recon stating recent new account openings and inquiries. I think part of it was that a year ago I moved all but $25 out of the savings account because the wife wasn't happy with them not wanting to increase CL's on her cards that she'd had for over 15 years with perfect payments, along with installment and auto loans paid in full. Our experience with them have definitely not been great. I maintain the savings so that I can use the auto loan offers/mercedes car buying service they offer. Back on topic--I don't think any one card is easier to get over another.
Just would like to have another major CU card........I got shot down when I apped a year ago......it just went to review by loan officer and I added an AU.....if its a no go this time I will just write them off....doubt I will recon.
The only card that would be harder to get would be the Platinum Rewards card. It's the only one that requires a $5,000 min credit line. Their minimum for all other cards is $500.
got "turned down" showing the the pending applications section......oh well.....so be it........will just write Pen-Fed off.
PenFed pretty much wants clean files only....

guess so.......no recent baddies ......last one was 4 yrs ago 60 day late with cap 1......bunch of inquiries and "new credit" though
I understand you dont join PenFed until your EQ is clean, they will hold any derogs on file at time of joining against you going forward.

Our files were clean, incomes very good and never an issue with membership. I just believe that sometimes it's all timing with PenFed. In my case, I had just opened up a couple of new accounts and had recent inquiries when they sent the preapproval offer for the Defender card. Of course, it was denied based on new accounts and inquiries. Perhaps had I applied with them before my app spree it would have been a different outcome. Income and scores aren't always an automatic for their cards but they will get you the installment loans of choice IMHO.
