@msbia wrote:OP, welcome to the forums! I understand your angst and empathize with you. Looking at your signature you have some really good cards! I just think you should garden for another 6-12 months and work on whatever is holding your scores down. Once your TU gets to about 640, go ahead and apply for credit limit increases on the Synchrony cards. Keep your overall utilization low and you should be fine. Try not to be disappointed in the denials...take the letters they send and use the, for inspiration as you go. In no time you'll be in Approvals proclaiming victory over Chase, Capital One and Discover. Keep your chin up!
Thank you for your warm welcome! Angst is definitely the word! I plan to "garden" for a minimum of 12 months but we all know how difficult that can be. I know that I can make it through now that i've got support in the forums. You guys are awesome!!!! I am proud of my utilization at the least, I always try to keep it below 20% but I will work on keeping it under 10% while I am gardening. Thanks for your support.
Oh you're welcome! I'm sure many of us recognize ourselves in your original post because we've been there too. I started my rebuild in January 2014 with one secured card with $250 on it. Worked on my baddies diligently and today I have over $322k in unsecured credit. You can do the same!

Wow!!! Congrats!!! I have worked on many of my baddies which has helped me get the credit I have today, though not much. I am kind of stuck on 2 collections that are just not being lifted off, despite my attempts to have them removed since it's worth a shot. I have gotten many of my collection accounts taken care of and removed. It was alot of work but it has paid off! Also waiting for some inquiries to fall off. I have about 10-12 inquiries from the last 24 months and I wonder what my credit will be like by the time most of these have fallen off. Anyways, thanks again for your inspiration. You have a great story and your hard work has paid off!
There you go, I like that attitude! The key words are "wait" and "time". I'm not a patient person so my waiting for things to age off & inquiries to fall off is always my weak point. If you can conquer the wait and "garden", you will be golden. You're off to a good start! Blessings to you as you go. 😊
I've been there before too. With low 600's you need to garden and give it 6-12 months. then when you are ready to apply for something, don't just do it, optimize your credit reports so U have the best chances of getting approved.
Once you have a more solid history, you can apply for cards without having to make sure your reports are super optimized. but in the start, low utilization plus 6 months of a cool down period does wonders! good luck and just keep your payment history excellent and utilization low and 6-12 months will eventually fly by. I definitely get it though as I am the worst impatient person ever! lol
Welcome to the forum! We have all at some time made mistakes, some bigger than others. The fact that you came to this forum to learn as did the rest of us proves that you are on the right track! Again, welcome!
Hell, I get app regrets with approvals.

Sometimes on the pending apps I find myself hoping it gets declined.

Sometimes, when I am really hungry, I will order a pizza. Next thing I know I have eaten the entire thing, and I just think about how much I hate myself and how disappointed I am.
It's something like that that reminds me why I eat healthy and focus on a healthy lifestyle.
I just ordered a pizza instead of apping.
probably end up using new cards to buy new bigger clothes if this becomes a habit.
Don't beat yourself up over mistakes (credit or otherwise). If you learned something from your mistake, then that mistake has helped you.
You can check the credit pulls database to see what scores are needed for which cards before applying in the future.
