Sometimes, when I am really hungry, I will order a pizza. Next thing I know I have eaten the entire thing, and I just think about how much I hate myself and how disappointed I am.
It's something like that that reminds me why I eat healthy and focus on a healthy lifestyle.I just ordered a pizza instead of apping.
probably end up using new cards to buy new bigger clothes if this becomes a habit.
When you get in real trouble is when you have no money for the pizza, so then you put it on the CC and can't pay it off... Then you tell yourself "well I better eat it all because I got it and I can't afford it"... Now, you are sitting in your mom's basement with an empty pizza box, $12 in credit card debt, and need new clothes.
@Anonymous wrote:Sorry about the denials. I don't mean to offend you but those FICO scores in you sig are quite low for the CCs you applied. I beleive a score of upper 600's to 700's will get you those CCs. Sorry OP.
dendom02 is correct. You gotta be patient. Those apps are prime card category.
It helps to study the creditpulls database and know what you're likely getting into before you start applying for new credit.
Don't be moved by emotion with credit or money...it will ruin you everytime.
@Anonymous wrote:Cards that I applied for were:
Chase Freedom: Denied
Capital One Venture: Denied
Barclay Rewards: Denied
I knew I shouldn't have applied cause I havent had any inquiries since the beginning of this year. My score around March was in the 510's and I've brought it up to the 600's so I am at least excited that it is not as low. I was applying for cards to see if I could get approved for something new, and to add new credit lines to my history. I guess this was the wrong approach and I wanted to feel the excitement of new credit without really thinking of what I was getting myself into. Erg...
Honestly, don't beat yourself up - this is a journey and EVERY journey has road blocks. I definitely have some cards I should NOT have apped for and have some INQs that were plain silly, but you can bounce back from it! Those INQs aren't going to hurt you too much and TBH, you've got osme great cards nad you can let them grow and CITI and Chase will be knocking down YOUR door in a year or 2. Be patient (trust me, this is hard as hell for me, so I get it!).
I couldnt understand how to do the app spree so i decided to not try it until I was more educated on how to do it.
I too have done the spree it was right after my first approval for my Cap 1. I refuse to go with Chase Citi or AMEX because I have seen people with scores in the low 700's get denied because they didnt have enough income or history I have given up on Chase AMex and Citi but thats my personal choice
Credit is more of a journey, not a destination. Almost everyone here has had some small or larger misshaps in the past we don't know anything about getting good credit, want to learn, end up googling how to get good credit questions and end up in this forum. Sometimes coming to this forum only fans the app spree flame. It's ok, we all make mistakes. You could take a break for a while. Focus on other financial improvement journeys, like opening an IRA, or Cds or managing finances via mint or something. Not everything should be about credit cards.
Well, we've all had credit card disappointments and whatnot. I'd recommend being patient and trying to increase the credit limit of all your cards (you have so many, and I'm guessing they've all been opened relatively recently!). That can increase your overall line of credit without bringing in too many inquiries. If you have to just apply, check the website to see if you're prequalified (banks will only ask you the last four digits of your SSN instead of all ten, just to clarify how you know it's a prequalified check vs. app). Good luck!

No, not a terrible mistake, a learning experience. You have been working on improving your file, and in order to test how your file looks, you have to app. Now, with the feedback, which you really only get directly from the CCC, not from the conversation here, you know there is more work to be done. The HP don't cost any money. They will fade, and as you continue to improve your file, those cards will be accessible before long.
The discussion here can be helpful for obvious issues to watch out for, or to find opportunities, but for really testing whether your file is ready to app, nothing replaces an app.

Very good points. I am glad I joined this board!
