App Spree, What next? Need advice please.

Hi, I'm new here and I'm loving it!  I've gotten so much helpful info from here...I'm learning a lot.  Thanks EVERYONE!  I would like advice or your input on a little app spree.

I figured now is as good of a time as any, so at the end of March, I applied & got approved for the Amex Blue Cash Preferred ($10,500 limit). This week I was speaking with a Amex CSR and managed to get the offer for 50,000 mile bonus for the Delta Gold Amex, so I went for it...Approved but ONLY a $2000 limit. That puzzled me as to why the limit was so low. I guess internal limits or something?

I have been a member of Penfed for a little over 2 years so I figured it was time to see if I could finally "knock the soda machine over" (denied 2 yrs ago).  I applied for the Platinum Rewards Visa Signature card....pending for a day, then finally approved with a $10,000 SL. I would love another Penfed product.

Here I go:

3/15 - Amex Blue Cash Preferred ($10,500)

4/15 - Amex Delta Gold ($2000 SL) 50,000 mile bonus

4/30/15 - Penfed Platinum Rewards Visa Signature Card ($10,000 SL)

Inquiries - 5 - EQ (2 fall off end of May), 3 - EX (2 from recent Amex, 1 falls off In July),  0 -TU

Scores: 730 EQ, 753 EX, 772 TU, No baddies

Wish List (no particular order)

Maybe 2 Barclays card, because that's a TU pull for me...don't know which ones??

Another Penfed product

Chase Freedom Card

CSP

NFCU Card, after I get thru membership, LOL

Discover

Capital One Venture (I've heard of the large SL)

Capital One QS

Citibank

Which 2 or 3 should I choose now and what order? Who's really Inquiry sensitive? Should I stop now and wait for a little bit?  Can anyone suggest a card?  Who uses 1 pull for multiple products? Help, I'm looking to build my credit portfolio.  Thanks for your input.

I wonder where that Penfed line came from?  Smiley Happy

Welcome to the forums, we're glad to have you here.  Your experience with Amex is kind of typical; one card will give a decent limit, then the next one is much lower.  I got a SPG for $5k in January, then jetBlue for $2k about a month later for example.

Penfed:  Your hard pull is good for up to 90 days.  So if you recently got approved for something, you might want to consider applying for another card or PLOC within that window if you are concerned about more hard pulls.

NFCU:  Lock that in before you do anything else.  They are known to be incredibly generous and if you're eligible, I would set everything else aside and get that done first.

Thanks for responding.  As for the "Knock the soda machine over" phrase, I can recall reading that on here in someone's post and totally agreeing!  That's why I quoted it. LOL!  Is that your post?  Just glad that they finally approved me.  As for NFCU, provided I'm eligible, I'll try to get in there.  Other than Navby, what would you suggest I try next?

Which you should apply for is not an easy answer for any of us. This will depend on you. What are you looking for in the card as far as rewards go? How will you be using this card for charges? Based on those answers, we might be able to point you in a good direction.

Re: App Spree, What next? Need advice please.

I'm not really planning on carrying to many balances, I want to try to keep a low utilization rate.  I'll rotate them.  I really just want them to build my credit profile with rewards along the way (that wouldn't hurt, LOL).  Just wondering which ones would be better to try now and which ones to wait for a stronger credit profile for?....and which order?  I admit, I love the travel rewards and cash back is OK too.  Waiting to try the luv button for 3x credit limit increase from AMEX.  I'm guessing I'll try the AMEX BCP ($10,500 SL) 1st; that's the one with the higher limit.  The Delta only has $2k SL.  See if I could get that CLI to the $25K without "issues."  Would me apping for more cards, lessen my chances of that CLI?

When it come to Amex, it depends on your profile. I know people that have had tons of inquiries and new accounts and still got approved for a CLI, but they also had strong profiles. I've also seen someone that had a lot of inquiries and a thin file get denied. There is no sure fire way to tell.

Barclay is a TU puller and inquiery sensative so if you want that, do it first. Between the Freedom Card and the CSP, depending on how much you plan on putting through on the card per year will make a difference. Remember, the CSp has an AF so if you are only going to put minimum spending on it, I would go Freedom.

Some of the oter cards that you mentioned I have never dealt with so I couldn't guess.

Re: App Spree, What next? Need advice please.

Ok thanks. So maybe I'll try for Barclays 1st since there's no inquiries on TU.....then app for Chase......then Cap1 venture or qs last. Does that sound like a plan...good order? Or Discover?

Discover would be a good card. Which ever you end up deciding to apply for, make Capital One your last app. Numerous people have stated that they pull all 3 cb's.

Re: App Spree, What next? Need advice please.

Who do you think would give the higher limit, besides Navy (membership may be an issue)?  I'm already at 3 new accounts. Would 5 or 6 new accts be too much? Do you think it would tank my scores? I just read somewhere on here that Citi is very inquiry sensitive and they don't want to see more than 5 inqs in 6 mos.  Does Citibank generally pull Experian?  If so, currently have 3 inqs on EX; should I app Citi 1st, then Chase (Ex pull too)

should this be the order:

1. Citibank, generally a Experian pull?

2. Chase, another Experian pull, that makes a total of 5 for ex

3. Barclays ring, Arrival+ WEMC, or Sallie Mae? TU Pull

4. Capital one Venture
