App in store or online?

I remember seeing in the past that people have had better chances applying in store for an account because they are maybe purchasing things as opposed to online...is this still common place? Or is there really no evidence to support this?

Re: App in store or online?

It really just depends on the store. Target I was told by a friend of mine that works in their corporate offices that it is easier to get the card if you apply at the registers when checking out.

Re: App in store or online?

Was more or less a general question across the board. Didn't have a store in mind for me personally.

Great post! I have the same question particularly relating to Lowes. I app'd online and was denied and waited too long to recon so the app was closed. The CS agent told me to go to the store and app but I haven't done it yet not wanting a denial at the register with a dozen people standing around.

I really want this CC for stuff around the house and the 5% off helps. What to do, what to do???

Re: App in store or online?

If you have moved recently I walk into the store because time and time again people post about verification call in and you would skip that by being there in person. as far as starting limits go the finer stores mays blooms nordstom may have some wiggle room and Home Depot Lowe's as well for large purchases

Try the Customer Service desk for the app at Lowes, as you are entering the store with your cart empty?

Trying to app a CC at the register with a cart full of merchandise and three people behind you does indeed not sound like a stress-free apping strategy Smiley Happy

In store is better. The DW and I have been approved instantly for all of our in store apps. Of course know your odds of approval before you apply.
