App sprees?

When you do app sprees what does that mean exactly? Like is it a reason you do a bunch of applications at once? Isn't it the more applications done, the more negative hits your score will take?

Since being approved for my one card (Victoria's Secret) I applied to old navy and got the 7-10 days message. So I take that as a denial. So now I am way too terrified to try again. I assumed because they were the same bank I would be approved Smiley Sad

I prefer the term app-o-rama.

One apps several at the same time so that they age together. Or they are taking advantage of a window of opportunity where they see a temporary score increase or otherwise.

Typically one would pick lenders which pull different reports to soften the blow on the inquiries.

Also, apping for too many cards from one lender in any given amount of time can cause them to spit out denials.

Ahhhh got ya! So I shouldn't have done the same lender. Either way I'm terrified to apply anywhere else lol

Re: App sprees?

Victorias Secret and Old Navy are not the same lender, so you are okay there. Victorias Secret is Commenity Bank and Old Navy is synchrony (same bank as walmart, amazon, lowes). Also did you app for Victorias Secret or do the Shopping Cart Trick? The Shopping Cart Trick is only a soft pull and you dont get hit with a inquiry. Only commenity backed cards offer the shopping cart trick like JCrew, Express, HSN (only to name a few) if you didnt do the shopping cart trick, I would search for it so next time you are interested in a commenity store card you dont have to take a hard hit for it.

Re: App sprees?

Credit Queen- no I tried the cart trick with VS, JC Crew and Express, no luck. So I just applied. It makes sense it's not the same bank because Walmart declined me.

Re: App sprees?

Oh okay....maybe your informatiom didnt exactly match whats on your credit reports and that is why you never received the pop up...I applied for walmart when my score was in the high 500's denied!! Even called backdoor just said denied. Then my score got into the 620's last month applied for Amazon instantly approved for $800 and tried walmart (had to call to push app through but was approved $500) I would give it a couple months then try walmart and old navy again..... u will definitely get there! I also have the Victorias Secret Card sine September and I love it BTW. The points add up fast!
