Apple (Goldman Sachs) denied CLI

I requested a CLI through the apple wallet and I got a message that I was denied for "Your Transunion credit report shows you've made multiple recent applications for credit, which have resulted in hard inquires on your file"

2 credit apps and approvals 5 months ago only.  I would think only 2 apps would be fine?

They checked Fico 9 my score was 761 and the email states the factors

Your credit line increase request did not result in a hard inquiry on your credit report.

Key factors that adversely affected your TransUnion FICO® Score 9:

  • Lack of recent installment loan information
  • Length of time revolving accounts have been established
  • Length of time accounts have been established
  • Too many accounts recently opened
  • Number of inquiries

All 3 are locked, so I can confirm it was a SP

Re: Apple (Goldman Sachs) denied CLI

Re: Apple (Goldman Sachs) denied CLI

I wonder if they are just not doing these as much as they may be nearing selling off to another issuer. I recetnly tried mine after 180 days since my last CLI and got "You have not used and paid enough of your Apple Card credit limit since your last credit limit increase." In the past they have given me a small increase even with extremely infrequent card use.

5% Capped Cash Back:

4% Unlimited Capped Cash Back:

4.5% Unlimited 3% Capped Cash Back:

On My Radar:

Sock Drawer with card locked (while waiting to see which issuer takes over):

Re: Apple (Goldman Sachs) denied CLI

On Apple card I will tell you my experience. Had it since near the launch. Years I don't buy and finance zero  Apple gear I never seem to get a CLI. When I throw Apple products on pay them off in 3-6 months I always have gotten a CLI. Apple will even let you exceed your line of credit if you buy Apple and finance it.

I am not sure if this is the norm but Apple def seems to favor those that buy their products. I ran a test last year and had some serious monthly flow though it paying it off as soon as it was posted and zippo. Last half of the year I needed a new laptop. Bought a Macbook Pro paid it off in about 3-4 months. When it was time requested a CLI and got it. All anndotal but seems to be the case for myself over the years of having this card.

Re: Apple (Goldman Sachs) denied CLI

Apple Card CLI's are certainly not what they once were.  I agree that the pending transition of the portfolio may have something to do with it.  Additionally, they have switched from routine or pretty much guaranteed to CLI's to more of a "high spend and payment processing will warrant you greater CLI's"

@USMCOne  this has been the case for me too! Every time I ask for an increase, I usually get denied. All of my limit increase approvals have come whenever I have done an installment for some Apple products and then ask for an increase.

I will never do that or put any apple products on the apple card, I am with Tmobile and they have paid for all the Iphones I have had. I am on my the 16 pro, but I am over Iphones. The newest IOS is trash and the Iphone itself is becoming too glitchy

Re: Apple (Goldman Sachs) denied CLI

I put my Apple stuff on it due to 0% interest when I purchase but I also get additional discounts. 10% for being a Veteran, then I scroll down on the Veteran portal to refurbished and bought a Macbook Pro 16 inch M3 for considerably cheaper then 3% from Apple card.

Also Apple Gift Cards if you buy them online are coded for 6% on Amex Blue Cash Preferred as it sees it as streaming. Did all the above but bought Apple gift cards for my Ultra watch.
