My story begins 4 years ago with an Apple card application that gets approved with a starting limit of $2,500 (good credit at the time). Within the first two years of having it, I've received an additional $1,500 in limit increases. Over the past year, I've not received any limit increases but with decent spend - up to $500 in a cycle, paying the balance. Also, in the four years since, my credit has improved steadily and am currently in the FICO-8 range from 790 to 820.
So, a little over a week ago, I decided to close this account and this process was quite simple via the chat function. Just for fun, today I decided to see what they would offer on a new application, I was't expecting much, maybe even a decline, but to my suprise they offered $10K limit with a lower interest rate! This would appear to be a new account, not a re-open of the closed account.
Yes, I did accept the offer and the resulting hard inquiry and no, I didn't receive a SUB offer but what the heck!
Anyway, I thought it was interesting after only a week of being closed. Maybe I should try this trick with SoFi! :-)

Congrats on your second but better approval.
