Was curious has anyone been rejected after selecting a pre-approved offer from Goldman Sachs/Apple? Obviously they do the soft pull, then they'd get more info from the hard pull, so if you had additional accounts or hard inquiries, etc., they could glean that from the hard pull and reject you even though you took them up on their pre-approved offer.
The reason I'm curious is it makes me wonder why any company has to do a hard pull in the first place. What additional information would GS get from the hard pull that may impact their decision?
They don't get any additional info. The hard pull is to let other lenders know you're applying for credit.

SP pulls are becoming more common - sort of like a new fintedch method of checking credit without the HP dings.
SP are being used with many personal & business credit as well.
My personal X1 was my most recent SP only VISA at $21K SL....
My first biz MC was Citizen's and it was a SP on my personal CR.

Thanks, this is what I was looking for!
Fintech seem to want to give the impression of more consumer friendly and less punitive than traditional avenues . Penalizing you for asking about credit is one that seems to be where they are try to show their difference . And some like the X1 not even bothering with the HP at all . It's all perception but it is nice and refreshing . Apple is the "consumer friendly" company here . Goldman is the att here with them. Willing to do whatever apple says in order to hopefully capture the business of the apple fans and casual buyers alike .
