Application question for a friend

I have a friend ask me if knew what to put down on a usbank credit card application for employment. This will be her first card.
She is on disability but there is no option to select disability under employment. Nor is there an option for "other".
there is an option that says "social security". Since SSDI is administered from social security, should she select this. Or "unemployed"

thanks guys.

Yes. You're correct that it's from Social Security, so SS is her source of income and should be listed. Definitely do not say 'unemployed' unless they have separate fields for 'occupation' and 'income'--unemployed with no income = denial! But it sounds like there's just one field, so pick SS.

UPDATE: I was rushed when I wrote the above; here's more: When an app does NOT have a 'retired' option in its 'occupation' list, and also doesn't have 'disabled,' THEN and only then do I choose 'unemployed' (because all other choices are incorrect). But the only apps I've seen where I had to do that also had a separate field for source of income and/or income amount. By filling those in, it made clear that although 'unemployed' I do have income. Never say you're unemployed if you can't also explain that you do have income! If 'unemployed' is the ONLY choice that works for you, you have to include the fact that you do have income or it's a denial.

All of the apps i ever filled out had retired as a category and i always chose it and just listed my ssdi income. i was never asked for a specific source of income. I would say NEVER say unemployed, i think that is an auto denial by the lender.

I agree with the previous poster that social security is social security disability too so its a truthful statement if you fill it out that way.

I was in a hurry when I wrote my post, so I didn't expand on the 'unemployed' choice. Here's what I really mean and do: when an app does NOT have a 'retired' option in its 'occupation' list, and also doesn't have 'disabled,' THEN and only then do I choose 'unemployed' (because all other choices are incorrect). I'm going to update my other post....

I have never seen disabled on one of those lists, i beleive they cant ask that question or they violate fair lending practices. The only lender which did not have an option on their lists for me was navy fed. when i appd at navy fed i said my income was from annuity, it was the only option close.

It's been eons since I filled out a credit-related application, so I may have just gotten confused by other forms I've filled out. I know I get asked questions that definitely do include 'disabled' and various other things, but I can't say for sure now that *credit* apps are among them.
