Application

How should I apply for new credit, online or over the phone? Looking for the best approval chances.

Re: Application

Depending on who you're applying with, using an online pre-qualification took could minimize taking a hard pull for a denial.

Re: Application

Probably depends mostly on the creditor you want to apply with.

Some people have better luck getting approved for retail card's at the check stand while trying to buy something.

Some banks approve quickly by phone application because they can more quickly move through the security verification.

If your scores are good, nothing bad in your file and haven't been applying for everything under the sun -- you can apply using the method you're most comfortable with. If you've got a lot of new accounts and/or inquiries some banks will deny the application regardless of how it is submitted.

If you would like suggestions and a little guidance you'll need to share some details about your credit profile.

FICO scores;
Any negatives;
Number of inquiries last 6 months and 12 months;
Number of new accounts opened last 6/12/24 months;

Listing any creditors you currently have will (and how long since opening) also will help reduce suggestions for cards you already have.

Re: Application

Both have pre-qualification tools. What you're looking for is a solid apr, not a range. Nothing is guaranteed, but that's pretty much as good as it gets

Re: Application

Prequals can help but not 100% bulletproof. In reality applying by phone or online wont increase or decrease your chsnces of approval, your credit profile will determine that. Knowing your scores, income, and what a lender looks for in particular can help you determine if a certain application is worth applying for or not.

@moving-on-upWelcome To myFICO Forums!

Depending on your spend, you may also try Discover pre-qualify. they like thin profiles.

maybe post what you spend on and a rough idea of your credit profile.

like what cards you hold if any?

age of your credit?

any BK's or lates (if any)?

and if you feel comfortable your rough income.?

just some thing's that can help others guide youSmiley Happy
