If declined for some of them, they can still be HP, but the pre-qualification is only step 1 until they run everything through. AFAIK, X1 is still SP if declined. SoFi is SP if declined -- the only thing with SoFi is that no CL or APR is displayed when submitting the app until approved.

Re: Aspiration Pending?

My app was denied. They still did an Experian HP. Weird as my DP's are better than a lot of people getting approvals.

@Anonymous

Keep in mind that "better" is really subjective. You have no access to everything you see posted here or elsewhere. Most folks provide very limited details about their profiles, so it's going to be difficult to gauge how a particular lender made their decision -- whether it's scores, profile depth, utilization, AAoA, etc. So, you're only looking at things from one lens.

On the upside, once you learn the reason(s), you can optimize things to reapply again if you wish to do so.

Glad I'm not alone in the HP denial . It is what it is . But good for others to know . I got no reasons for denial nor a promise of an email or letter with said reasons . Live and learn . I would have wasted the HP on something else but oh well.  Got caught up in the excitement haha . Hopefully I hear from them because I am curious to why .

Re: Aspiration Pending?

I have had some HP denials in the past. No one likes them. I have done my homework too in the past to only apply for cards I was sure to be approved on yet was denied. It has not happened to me very often but a few time is enough. Again, no one likes them and it lingers on us all for two years. But if we want cards it is all part of it. In the end we end up with a nice assortment afterall. So don't let a denial get you down

Thanks

Mark

I'm just more miffed that if pre-approved no hit HP unless you accept . Just seems a little backwards . Oh well on to the next one .

Did you get the SP pre-approval before you accepted ?

The SP pre-approval is pretty solid with a CL and APR rate.

HP is incurred only after you accept the SP pre-approval.

I was not offered a sp approval with option to accept . I was declined with no explanation and a HP . So if you don't prequalify I think it's HP regardless . I'm a no risk no reward guy so it is what it is . But it's not a sp unless you are approved with option to accept.
