BBVA Compass Pre-Approval

So how valid is this..

I got a pre-approval from them today however I hesistant to apply. Will this pre-approvall be a hard pull if I apply. 

I was denied several months ago when I applied, so are they reconsidering now?

They are sending these to most people that were denied in the past saying pre-approved and "RE-APPLY" verbage.  I would be cautious of them personally.  You obviously know the reason for this as they have been known to be a VERY flaky lender and a huge headache to some while others haven't had an issue.  Just isn't worth a big CL to me.  I thought about applying at one time, but quite honestly have enough Centurion backed Amex's and after reading of a possibly nightmare I might have I opted to pass on this one.  Ulitimately up to you and have yet to hear of anyone applying since they have got the pre-approved message after their last denial.. Been a few posts about the pre-approvals on the forum from previous denials, but yet to see anyone jump on it.  Just asking questions as you are doing

If it is not a must have card for you, I suggest you pass.  BBVA has been very dodgy lately.  Not worth the aggravation..

How about pull your EX report and see if they soft pulled your report recently. That may give you an idea of how legit the offer is. The easiest way to access the report is  just go thru the dispute button back door on the Experian site.  You don't have to actually dispute anything to see who has been checking your credit report.

As CC suggested, it's probably hit or miss with BBVA.  Many, including myself, have been through the ringer with them.  If you apply, I would be prepared for aggravation.  Hopefully if you apply, there is no aggravation, but who knows.

I have no problems with my BBVA Card.  I applied during the Mega Approval in early spring 2015.  I was a given a $13K SL but I only used this card twice: once when I first got the card and just recently to buy a gallon of milk.  Otherwise, this is one of my sock drawer cards.

As always, YMMV but I would do it all over again.

^Have you looked at the recent trends though? Recently they've been denying people because they "couldn't verify identity" and use that as the reason even when people involve the CFPB. Several members on here have experienced that.

I applied during the same, instantly approved, and have had not one issue either ! I've read about all others & sorry so many went through HELL to come out empty handed.

I applied like 3 times and each time they couldn't verify idenity. They still must not know who am I as too no temptations in the mail lol.
