I haven't had my BBVA accounts (about 6 months) as long as yours but I haven't received anything in the mail from them. Yes, the current climate has placed restraints on credit card approvals. I know personally that PenFed has been extremely generous as of late. A few days ago, I apped for PenFed's Power Cash Rewards CC and was approved for a 17.5K SL. Quite frankly, I can't wait until we can bypass the current climate as it has stalled my plans. Stay safe and good luck.
I don't know how "relationship" heavy BBVA is but I don't think you need an existing relationship to apply for their cards.
However in case you are interested BBVA currently has a couple of nationwide offers for signing up their checking account, $200 for $500 total direct deposit by 10/31/2020 or $400 for $2500 total direct deposit by 11/15/2020.
If your employer direct deposit can be changed it is a good time to jump in.
BBVA is an international bank that does business in the US (BBVA is an abbreviation of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria; they're a Spanish bank) and foreign banks are well known for tightening in a downturn. I would be very surprised if they are lending as much as they were.
The problem is by the time i was ready to have a little spree, everybody closed up shop and went home. Unfair i tell you!

You don't, you only need your legal residence to be within the appropriate geofence for the card you're applying for.

Lol the cards will still be there later.
Interesting thing is saw first SP on my Experian report end on June from BBVA since opened checking account 6-8 months ago or so. Shall see if any offers come sometime although outside geofence. Weird since CV-19 I barely get any mail compared to pre cv-19 nothing persay to do with CC's just mail in general whatever kinda junk mail it is
Thanks for the info. Please keep us posted if you receive any offers from BBVA. Perhaps, during the end of the year, lenders will feel a little generous and the financial outlook more prosperous.
I've checked for at least the past year trying to trick their pre qualify link or see if my state was added (RI). Low and behold I just filled out pre qual link for rewards and clear points card and was pre approved ( my state was finally an option)

Congrats, as that is new to me.
For a while MA residents were eligible to apply for the ClearPoints only and I got mine from a mailed preapproval but this is the first I've heard of a preapproval for someone from RI.
