BOA Checking Account CO

Hello Everyone

Long time lurker here but finally decided to join in LOL

I have a Dilemma I hope someone can help me.

I’ve been rebuilding since 2016 and thanks to the amazing forums on here I’ve gone from the 500’s to the 700’s 😀. In 2008 (age 19) I stupidly allowed my BOA Checking Account to Overdraft and never paid it so of course it went into collections and fell off  my CR last year. Finally🤦🏽‍♀️

Now here’s the dilemma my Kids go to Florida pretty much every Summer for Vacation to be with their Grandparents. So I’d like to get an Amtrak CC to help with expenses. It’s much cheaper than flying them round trip but I’m scared to apply for the Amtrak CC because I pretty much burned BOA and idk how forgiving they are🙁. I was young and dumb but I’ve definitely learned my lesson but I’d really like that CC to help with their Travel expenses next year.

I read on here somewhere that the Bank and CC are separate and that person was able to get a CC while their Bank Account was still in Collections.

Can someone help me please. Thank You 😊

Re: BOA Checking Account CO

The only way to determine if you're on their "black list" due to that financial loss is when you apply.  Just because the credit card side may be separate from the deposit side as far as a line of business within their organization, an overdraft loss can still pop up on their internal records.

No one on these forums can guarantee what role, if any, the OD will have on your application outcome, though.

Understood. I guess I won’t ever know because I’m not willing to take that Hard Pull LOL. Thank You for the response.
