Back to the generic denials from Synchrony?

It's been a little over 3 months since my JCP card received it's last CLI so I figured I'd try for another one 2 weeks ago. That was denied. The letter that came in Saturday stated the following reasons -

Degpgatory public record or collection filed - BK from '09 and tax liens
Proportion of loan balances to loan amounts too high - auto loan from over a year and a half ago - $18k left on a $25 loan
Length of time accounts have been established - 2 Cap 1 cards and one Lowes from January
Time since derogatory public record or collection is too short - 7 years is too short?

My JCP and Walmart cards grew like wildfire last year and Lowes have a $17K limit after a couple of recon calls. The other stuff didn't seem to matter then. Can't they just say "No, we don't want to extend more credit to you right now"?

Not that I really need the additional credit but like many people, I'd like to see the limits go as high as they can.

It doesn't hurt to ask. And I did it while I had a rep on the phone. I overpaid my card so I called to ask for a refund. Asked about a CLI before we hung up. I'll try for my Walmart card in a few weeks. Lowes will be due a few weeks after that.

Re: Back to the generic denials from Synchrony?

Lowes was my last increase from $5000 to $6000 a couple of weeks ago. All of my other synch cards have not moved since February.

I even attempted to apply for Sam's Club and Marvel. Both declined. And, my TransUnion has even gone up from when I originally applied for the other cards, 632 to 685. So I don't understand it either. I guess I should just be content on what I do have.

Re: Back to the generic denials from Synchrony?

Tried to help my wife get a CLI on her Sam's club MC. Current CL $5K, went ahead and had her ask for $25,000. Denial with no counter.  7-10 day letter.

FICO8 780's but a few recent other approvals on various cards.

I was surprised and embarassed that I did such a hard sell to the wife to try the CLI.

Couch sure is comfy.....

Re: Back to the generic denials from Synchrony?

I get the same darn thing with my Sams Club Mastercard!  Not much they can throw at me.  Just that I have some UT, which is very low.  But my Amazon account keeps growing.  Who knows? Smiley Sad

Re: Back to the generic denials from Synchrony?

Funny thing is, my TU score is the highest that it's been in years and my credit keeps getting better.
