I feel like this might be a trap. Anyway, anytime I log on to my Bank of America account, I get an offer for this card. My scores are not great. Why would I keep getting offers for this card? I do have a large amount in my checking and savings but still unsure on this one.
I feel like this is just a trap and that I would be denied if I tried for approval. Any thoughts? Does anyone know the actual qualification criteria for this card?
Thanks!!
I'm not sure if this helps or not but I can tell you I have tried their pre-qualification site in the past....pre-qualified for the card then denied when I apped right after.
So it may be that BOA uses these 'offers' as marketing purposes and not so much as solid 'offers'.
Best of luck!
Thank you. That's all I needed to here. I'm not falling for it lol.

@Greenivy what @KateInquires told you regarding the prequalification site is accurate, but that doesn't tell the whole story.
You mentioned that you saw this offer when you logged in online. If this was a Special Offer extended under the Activity Center's Special Offer and Deal subsection it is a legitimate prequalification, although not a guarantee of approval, and they can be either for a single card or occasionally your choice from multiple cards. Acceptance will trigger a hard pull.
Yes when I log in its under a special section for me.....something to the effect of "my offers". I would do it if it were a soft pull but I can't really afford to give up any points for a hard pull if its denied.

Yes, that's it. A hard pull would be a sure thing but even with the valid prequal an approval is not, so your reluctance is understood.
I tried to apply for this card back in April and was denied due to too many inquiries and I believe recently opened accounts. I had about 8 inquiries at the time at 1 new card (less than 6 months) when I applied and got denied. I have a checking and savings account with Bank of America so I have the app and yesterday I got an email and see in the app this card as my "special credit card offer" it takes me to a page with 4 options. Nothing has changed since my deniel so not sure how I'd be pre-approved now. I think they may just be pushing their cards for the moment since I've see a few people asking this same question (me included)
I had the same offer in my BOA online app as well I applied it went into manual review and was approved for 6k I said hell let me try for the customized card a week later I applied they used the same pull as the first card instant approval 6k again. they pulled ex, my score was 711 and I had 34 inqs.(bought three cars in 1 yr) I will say this I applied back in jan of 21 with a 750 score and was denied
I don't have great scores either OP, I'm a couple months out of 13, but I did receive an offer for a secured card with them last year. I applied and was approved. If it's an offer for you then I would say that your odds are good especially if you're a current customer.
That's good news about your approval. I'm probably going to wait until I'm in the best position to apply for anything. I've come a long way just from June 1st when I averaged 530 across bureaus.....now I'm at 650 across the bureaus. I need to address two bad lingering items before I will likely be able to reach the 700's......but I know its only a matter of time.
