No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I'm not expecting there to be any underwriters on this forum. However, you want me to jump in and just see what happens, which is what I may need to do. However, if someone has gone through this on this forum I might be able to save a step or two. Isn't that part of what this forum is all about? I'm open minded about ideas but I still would like to know what others may have gone through this experience and what they would do if they had to do it all over again.
1. Neither of the two banks you are asking about will pull your FAKO scores, they will pull your FICO scores;
2. There is absolutely no way any of us would know what type of SL you will receive, even if we knew your FICO scores;
3. You will get 2 hard pulls for the Chase Slate and Chase Amazon applications; and
4. A quick Google search for "no balance transfer fees credit cards" will produce a number of hits that can answer your question quicker.
Even if someone had a similar experience as you, there is no way of knowing whether or not they did not embellish their approval details/data points. The best thing we can tell you is if you may or may not have good chances of getting approved with your overall credit picture AND your FICO scores (hence the word "FICO", considering you are asking your questions on FICO's community forums). With all of the inquiries you currently have, why are you afraid of one more? You may have had only 2 for each bureau in the last six months, but inquiries are more of a factor in your credit rating when they are less than one year in age. Obtain your FICO scores as they may not be in the same range as your FAKO scores. You may get better answers you're willing to listen to when your actual scores are known. All the best!
Have you check to see if you are prequalified for any cards on Chase's site? BofA's prequals are pretty much worthless, but Chase's seem pretty reliable. If no prequals on either and you are set on getting in with these banks, I would start with Chase first since they seem more cautious about new accounts.
Side note, if you are paying high interest on the accounts you want to transfer, don't get hung up on the 3% fee. You might be paying as much as 2% a month in interest while trying to find a no fee card (i.e. at 24% apr). Have you tried for a credit limit increase on your Capital One? They offer me balance transfer offers all the time.
I'll check out the Chase prequal. I hesitated to this point in doing that because I froze Equifax and figured they wouldn't do anything without access to all bureaus. I temporarily unfroze and will try out Chase. I'll also do Discover. Capital One might increase my credit limit for balance transfers so that is a good idea also. Thanks for your input. I will have a decision on my credit union application tomorrow as they are doing my automobile refinance along with hopefully a new credit card.
Just a note about Chase not giving credit limits without hard pulls...they just raised my crappy little $500 card to $2k without me asking and no hard pull.
I was pleasantly surprised.
