Applied for first Barclay card. The Red Aviator card and was denied. Haven't gotten the denial letter yet. They pulled Transunion first then a couple days later pulled experian which is my highgest score at 690. Haven't had that many HP's in the past 6 months but the recent HpP for NFCU and the Cash Rewards card are probably showing now, I apped for those on 2/1/17. Should I try to recon with Barclay or just let it go. If I do reocon what do you say when they ask, "why have you been applying for all this credit?' I've only reconned once in the past and it didn't really go so well lol......
Defintely recon! Have heard almost everyone (even with good credit) has gotten denied this card.
I've been thinking of applying, but honesly would rather have the Arrival + Elite.
Barclay was my only denial since I started my rebuild and I recon'd successfully. The CSR was pretty awesome. I had... looking now... 9 new accounts spread over the past year when I recon'd their Ring card (3 were 6 weeks new and freshly reporting), TU was nearing 700 and I had a pretty big tax lien on all 3.
GL on the call, Barclay CSR's have always been pretty cool to me.
I wrote off Barclay's a few years ago when they closed an account after 8 months due to my availability of revolving credit. I had a $3000 limit with them and at the time a $1200 promotional 0% balance. They cut the limit to $1600 after 3 months and closed the card entirely 5 months later. No late payments (anywhere), no erratic spending, nothing.
I'd say they did you a favor.
I would suggest reconning, I've had good experiences with Barclay's UWers. I'd suggest telling them that you are or will be flying AA a lot and the Barclays card has more to offer than Citi. If they ask you about new account or recent inquiries , answer honestly that you have been evaluating your credit needs and spending habits and have applied for a for couple of cards that will benefit you.

If everyone has been denied this card why bother with the recon? I wanna get the Red Aviator cause I heard you could get upgraded to the Silver later and right now that's the only way to get it. I haven't had the best lock with Barclays, the citi AA card has a higher sign up bonus should I shoot for that one instead?
just got off the phone with Barclays and they denied the recon for the Red Aviator. said that because of the high number of new accounts i've opened (10 from Feburary of last year which was when my last app spree was) they wanted to see more history on my accounts with those before they could approve me for the card. I would have thought that wouldn't have been an issue since all the accounts have never been late and my score according to the denial letter was a 699 on transunion. Oh well I'll either just let it go or try again in a couple weeks so that they will use the same hard pull and that wasy it will be past a full year since that app spree. what do you guys think...recon didn't go the way i thought it would. sucks having to explain why you have so many accounts open

Do you have any other Barclay cards? I applied and was denied do to being at max exposure with Barclay. I have an Arrival that was at a $12,300 limit. I asked if I could split the cards on my recon and I was allowed to do that and now have the Arrival at $6300 and the Aviator at $6000. I recently got the Marriott card so the Arrival will be going away soon. My plan is to check for CLIs on both the Aviator and the Arrival in May, and then hopefully combine into one Aviator and close the Arrival.
