BarclayCard Odds?

So I'm new here and pretty much to rebuilding my histroy since the Crash Of '08. For the past month I had been SP testing the BarclayCard Pre-Qual site and always came up with the Ring option. Since I found this forum I've paid down all of my CL's and some are finally reporting lower UTI's so I'm currently showing about 14% and that will come under 10% within the next couple of weeks. Last Friday I got a HUGE CO EE'd with TU 8mths early that was reporting 150late's monthly. Today my CK (FAKO) TU score jumped 139pts. I know it's CK but CCT isn't reporting a the change yet. I've pulled a new TU and sure enough it's gone.

My current FICO8 is 585 and TU is 601.

Question? Just now, on a whim, I checked back with BC and to my supprise I was offered the BarclayCard REWARDS card. Should I go for it???

What other cards you have? Number of inquiries?

Re: BarclayCard Odds?

Saw those questions coming after I hit "post".

Okay,

Last yr I got 2 sec. cards ($1500 USBANK & $1000 FIRST NATIONAL OMAHA) then did nothing for several months but I kept too high a UTI on them. Found this forum a few weeks ago and dug in with the study time.

Within the past 3wks I've gotten teh following:

FingerHut $600

Cap 1 Platnimum $500

Cap 1 QS1 $500

Amazon $800

Overstock $550 (Initial $350 Ordered something small, hasn't even arrived yet and hit LUV got additional $200)

PayPal Credit $550

Inq's

EQ 8 (but 4 are from 2014 from utilities when moving)

EX 3

TU 5

What I'd really like to have is just 1 stinking non-subprime acct before I go lie down in the garden and put out some roots...

If I were you, I would let those accounts age and let your score improve before you apply for anything else. Once your score improves, bring your utilization down to less than 10%, this way you have a better chance of getting a higher SL when you apply. Also, based on the information you provided, if you carry balances of your cards, the Barlcay Rewards is not the card for you (this is my opinion and please correct me if I am wrong). The APR is over 24%.

Re: BarclayCard Odds?

601 score is too low I would think, around 650+ you should have much better chance.

You also have opened too many CCs in past couple of weeks, so give your self some time. Last thing you want to do is to spook the creditors.

You got QS1, that is a great card to build on. Keep using it and you'll have 5k limit after your 6th statement.

That's great info jace8602,

Not any more!!!

I was going under the wrong impression that showing usage and consistant payments I was bettering my score but now I know that to be the wrong way to go about it so everything is down under 10% and I will only show 1-2 accts with small balances while everything else is at $0.

I know you are probably right but I do want 1 better card.

There's just something about the psyche of having 1 good card that's not secured!

Please can I have it, PLEASE?????

Agree with this!

Besides, Barclays is, of all the ccs in the world, known to be most sensitive about recent inquiries or recent new credit. When I got my Barclay Sallie Mae MC (no longer available), I had scores in the high 700s, very reasonable utilization (can't recall exactly what), and a long completely clean history, but I'd opened three cards in the last four months. They gave me the card but with a pathetic limit compared to my other cards and they wouldn't raise the limit then because of those inquiries.

Barclays wants to see NO recent inquiries. And, I agree, a higher score. Feel free to make Barclays your first app when you come out of the garden six months or more from now.

Your Quicksilver One card is a good card. After showing a year of usage and your score improves you can ask Capital One to remove the annual fee completely. I believe the US Bank and FNBO secured cards graduate, so there is a big plus there. Do not rush applying for more cards, you are in the rebuilding process, it will take time before you get better cards. No one can stop you from applying but if you follow the advice in here you will have better chances.

Re: BarclayCard Odds?

I hear everyone loud and clear!!!

The FNBO will graduate for sure (in fact it should have by now but hasn't) and the info on the USBANK card seems to be a FICO8 score above 680 (may have read that wrong and just a TU score) with 1 full year of perfect pays.
