I'm doing my monthly prequals to see if I can get one of the better cards while I rebuild. It's still a no from Citi, Disco and CapOne but the BoA prequal site is giving me a recommendation for the Cash Rewards card. Does this mean I prequal and should give it a try or is it just their standard when you do the prequal? I would rather not waste the HP if it's just their marketing.
My experience and from what I have read here in other threads, it’s just their standard pre-qual/marketing. They state a good until or expiration date on the pre-qual which is a total fake out. 🤪 I apped and was declined. 🙈
If it says recommendation, then I think that's all it is.
All my official prequal offers have had set APRs listed. BoA never has.
Thanks. This is a screenshot of what it said. I guess I won't waste the HP.

BoA Pre-qual is not solid. Unless you are 100% sure you would qualify?
You might read about mid page on BoA;
BoA prequals are made through their online Activity Center as a Special Deal. Anything else is just a variation of an offer to apply even if it was extended with an offer code.

That is marketing. Their prequal never does a SP to you.
A sad part of that card, it used to be World Mastercard and they suddenly changed it to visa.

It used to be a Visa until they suddenly changed it to a Mastercard in 2018.
@NeverTubetheGoose Marketing! I wouldn't waste a Hard pull. Just my opinion
My experience was weird. I got the pre-qual online years ago, applied then got a letter or email (don't recall) for the secured version for $99 or something like that. I passsed at the time. I have a pre-select letter now so I'm curious how it turns out for you if you app.
