Not sure if this has been posted as I couldn't find any info on it. I've tried to get a CLI for a year with no avail. My fico score is a 737. Last March I finally got my secured Americard unsecured after 3.5 years (Oct 2018) & they decreased the limit from $1500-1000. I was able to PC it to the Unlimited Cash Rewards but I haven't gotten as much as $100 increase despite getting a CLI on all my other cards (Amex 3x CLI). I've gotten an offer to apply for the Cash rewards & Americard in the mobile app & mail. If I apply can I combine the limits of the two cards. I don't need a new card I just want a higher limit. No lates, no derogs/collections etc. AA of history is about 2 years.
@Dp23 after them treating you so bad why would you want to open up another bank of america card?

That is a good question. It is my oldest card but one of my lowest limits however I've had a checking & savings with them for the past 6 years. I just sock drawered the card for the time being.
@Dp23 I would agree with @mfinsmi1 with his question. As far as the checking and savings part I would look at another bank or credit union your savings will thank you. To help with your search use Depositaccounts.com . You can customize the search to fit where you live. Also, some the things local branchs or will an internet based bank work for you. The site will give the savings rates for most banks and credit unions. Something to consider.
@Dp23 i had wells fargo checking and savings and my card wouldnt grow. Literally 1 week after i closed all my banking accounts with them they upped my limit 5k . Im not saying thats gonna happen with BOA but you neeed to go where your appreciated. And if your lucky the bank will be like whoa we want their money back and possibly will give u a cli to show they care. BUT nothing changes if nothing changes. I know why you want to open up anther card - you hope your gonna get a huge SL with it , but from what you said i wouldnt trust BOA as far as i could throw them
Disclaimer : i persoanlly dont have any experience with BOA, just my opinion based on my own personal expereinces
Thanks for the replies. I'll hold off on applying for anything BoA related. I'll also look into a CU for my banking.
My experience with BOA has been great. My card is a fast grower. Are you applying for soft pull CLI on the app and they're turning you down? If so, what are they citing as the reason?
if that's not the case, make the card one of you drivers, give it. Lot of spend. apply for an increase once every 6 months. It's a soft pull so no harm either way.

I know how you feel. I had finally got BofA to give me a card and it was a lower limit to.
I waited patiently and could never get a CLI. I though it may just be that card so I openned another low limit card with them.
nothing I did would help...pay off every month, lots of use and nothing.
It was about two years or more before I got a CLI. I finally got one last year, then another dry streak, and a second CLI just this week. Now both cards have a 5k limit.
I think they will continue to grow, but sometimes it takes a minute. I would be patient and work on other cards until these come around.
Great idea.
