Applied for a cc recently. Declined. They countered w a secured. I declined. Turns out some innacurate CB info etc which I've now fixed. All scores low north of 700 although I do have a recently discharged BK13 and I may have burned them a bit Back in the day.
When I called three (3) dif times (using back door #s culled from here):
language barrier
"need a new HP"
"can only recon via mail w docs"
There's got to be a better way and/or a better # to call. I want to get back in w BofA but I'm not doing a secured after just getting a PenFed w a very high SL.
Help!?
Thanks
But did you burn PenFed?
It's my understanding that BofA is one of the lenders who doesn't let people back in the door all that easily once burnt... and if you have a BK on your reports it's gonna be that much more difficult.
If the only option was secured... I'd probably keep waiting.
If you did burn them before, then you may have to swallow your pride and except the secured offer for right now. There's a chance you can have it graduate at 5 months if you call and ask. But it's your call - I know some people would rather not go the secured route just to get their foot in the door, but others (like me) don't mind doing it that way.

I'm looking for advice as to why they, BOFA, need another HP to 'fix' things.
I'm looking for an entry point w them without the hassle. Thanks.
BOA wants a HP for everything; I'm not sure why, but they do this to everybody. I don't know a better number to call, but hopefully someone who does will chime in soon
To the OP here is a data point for you.....I burned BOFA in my BK from 6 years ago for about 10K, I apped last year for the cash rewards card and they countered with the 99/500 offer which I glady accepted to get back in with them. The card unsecured 6 months later with a SP from TU, it is now April and the card has been upgraded to a Visa Signature and has a 10K limit. Hope this helps you out.
Any of my dealings with Bank of America has required a hard pull. That's just the way they operate. Sorry, OP.
Sorry you're having a difficult time with BoA OP, but there are others on here that would LOVE for BoA to give them an opportunity at their secured card.
Idk of any other phone numbers to contact them. The ones listed on the sticky are solid. Also, if you are adverse to HPs than BoA may not be the creditor for you. SP CLIs are not the standard for them. They require a HP for most requests. Best of luck!
