While we all have banks we dislike, I really fail to see how it applies to this situation. IMO, the decline for OP was perfectly fair, and that's why they knew they probably shouldn't have applied for the card. BOA just wants some time and history, which is understandable given they just unsecured the card last month.


Any opinion can apply to any situation and I do not need to explain to you or anyone else how my opinion applies to the OP's statement, Nor should you attempt to passive

aggressively correct anyone on this forum.

The good news is :
There are other banks...
OP... just because B of A has criteria that doesn't match yours doesn't have to end your journey!
There are ( thank goodness ) other banks!
Just do some studying here on the old threads.
You will learn a lot ...plus find out why we all have banks we hate and love.

I'm seriously thinking of doing the same thing. I've already closed my checking account today.....

I am not sure where their priorities are these days. I had so much money invested with them and they still treated me like a POS. Back in the early 2000's they were great and I was treated very well. Guess they could care less about consumers. Its no loss to me, especially their investment products as they hire the stupidest CFA's who have no clue how to generate investment strategies. They are costing the consumer billions with a smile.

 

When banks become so large as in BofA's case they tend to lose focus on where their growth came from, ie the consumer.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones with this bank. I have had a great experience with them. They gave me a partially secured card when I finished paying my Chapter 13 and unsecured it in six months. Since then I have three credit cards with them with excellent limits and a car loan at 1.99%. I guess everyone's experience is different.

I agree 100%. Its hit or miss with BofA and that is the main problem. I had what I would consider a lot of money with them and Merrill and I just felt like everyone I spoke with was condescending as hell. 

 

Many people I know have great experiences with BofA. Just wish it had been the same for me. Oh well cant win them all. WHen I closed my $300 secure CC they went into panic mode and wanted to know why, who , how, ect. But when I transfered my IRA ($200k) they never even flenched or asked a single question. Smiley LOL

I always live by the mantra of "the only thing more mysterious of what a woman wants for dinner, is credit card companies." citi wont increase the small $1,800 credit limit of my simplicity card no matter what i do, but BoA will give me a starting limit of 12.5k on the Alaska sig? you can plan, do everything right, but in the end its like some crazy person hitting random buttons on the other side.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that has always been treated well by BOA. In fact I was on the phone with them today and PCd my current Am EX to the visa  cash rewards card. The CSR was very helpful, polite and took care of me fast. I have had my cc with them for 12 years and have never once requested a CLI, but they have auto increased me over the years to where they are now my highest limit.  In recent years I havent put much spend on their card and thats why I asked for the product change. I figure now with the 2% on warehouse stores I can at least use the cash rewards at Sam's Club.

 

 On the other hand American Express has been stingy with me considering my credit profile and income. I am doing my best to be patient with them and I know the card will grow over time, but a $2k SL was a pain.

I closed my accounts, (two business checking), with them last month after banking there for over 26 years. Finally got fed up with waiting 20 minutes to make a deposit because they have two or three tellers working when customers are lined up to the door. As a further indication of just how little they care about their customers, when I closed my accounts they didn't even ask me why.

 

I'm now happily banking with a regional where, if there's more than about two customers in line, the managers step in to take care of people.
