The first time I started seeing black stars was the day after I became 4/24

It may just be rumors/lies as I can't confirm, or out of date.
I can tell you that I got a green pre-approval for the SW card about 2-3 weeks before I got under 5/24. I do not need that card so I did not test the pre-approval. 4 days after going under 5/24 I got the green pre-approval to pop for the CFU that I was looking for.

There are people on here that have slipped through the cracks with no issues. There's also people here that have slipped through the cracks only to have the card closed during the secondary review. I remember one slipped through until they brought attention to themselves and caused chase to do an AR months later. Chase shut down the card based on the reason that it never should have been opened in the first place.

That's interesting, is that thread still on here with that particular situation?

I'm sure it is, but I think it's a couple of years old.

So I can walk into a branch and see if I have any preapprovals, without having a checking/savings account?
i may bite the bullet and take the $500 checking/savings offer anyway.
Still debating.$500 is more than I'll earn over the next 3 months with that $15k sitting in my Marcus account at 1.05% APY. I guess it's kind of a no brained. Just have to keep both accounts open for 6 months. After 3 months, I'll move my money back into Marcus.
If I do open those accounts how long would you recommend waiting to check for preapprovals.. Or does it matter to wait at all?
I have been with CHASE for a *long* time. I went in the branch this year before COVID started (being over 5/24) and asked if I was pre-approved for anything and the gal checked the screen and the only thing that came up is that I was approved for Private Client, which if you know what that is, that's pretty funny that I was approved for that. At that point, I kinda gave up on wanting anything CHASE unless I get those BLACK stars, which I know I will never get. By the time I am 5/24 or under, I probaby wont be in the credit game by then..

from what i'm reading, it looks like i shouldn't even expect a green or, black star, or pre-approval on any cards until after i've dropped below 5/24 which is in July 2021. So, i won't waste the HP and since i already have most the cards that are usefull to me i'm just going to sit back and continue to garden. After this promo ends in September the UA Explorer card holds more value to me, so looks like i'll just wait until this time next year and go after it, like i originally planned.
I'm trying to convince my fiance to get the Freedom, and add me as an AU until i'm under 5/24. She could benefit from more of the categories than me, and we could take advantage of the 5x back for year 1 by xfering me her UR points to redeem on my CSR. However, she was recently burned by CC's because she didn't understand them. Now she knows, with a little coaching by me and her mother, and has paid off a large balance she racked up. But she's now scared of them. So, i'm not pushing her, but up to 80k UR points would be a really nice addition to my 200k we already have and continue to collect monthly, for our 3-5 annual trips that we plan to get back into doing again next year. And, it might be a great way to slowly gateway her into the point earning game with me, while continuing smart practices.

Sounds like a solid plan. @MyFault
To add one more comment as an FYI, I mentioned earlier...I have seen/received a star.
I have banked with them in a minor ancillary account, including a mortgage, Business Account and Southwest Card and had been looking for stars since last OCT when my profile shifted to a much better position in terms of AAoA, Util and DTI...they were doing SP's in the background but never got a star. In May, gave up and cold app'd for the Sapphire Reserve and got it. Point being, I don't know the reliability of not getting stars and then getting approval.
