CAP 1 clearly has a score threshold for CLIs

I was wondering what it is. I have been trying to get a CLI on my quicksilver for months. I have only received one for $500. Is it 700?

Re: CAP 1 clearly has a score threshold for CLIs

I have gone from $500 SL to $2500 last April and to $6500 in December. My scores have been 650-680 (Fico 8)

That being said I PIF every month before the due date, and when my CL was $500 I came close to it a few times then they auto uped me to $2500. Then around Dec I made a couple big charges and was close to the limit again and then I PIF and they auto upped me to $6500 the next month.

I only have the one card though so all my usage is with them

That thread is mostly complaints about how small Cap One CLI's are. And to the OP, I don't think there's any magic credit score to score a CLI, it's utilization. I got my Quicksilver card in Oct 2014 with $10k SL. I've asked for a CLI twice, turned down both times with a message that basically said my CL was adequate for the usage. But I got a Spark Select biz card in Oct 2015 with $5k SL. I had to spend $3k within 90 days for a $200 spend bonus, which I did, but made large payments so the card wouldn't report a balance over 29% utilization even though it was 0% APR until May. I requested a CLI after the 4th statement, instant approval of a $3k CLI, a 60% increase to $8k; my CS was maybe a few points higher than when approved. Convinces me that heavy utilization is key to a CLI from Cap One.

I agree that there are some complaints in the other thread, but there are some good data points there nonetheless.  Smiley Wink

Re: CAP 1 clearly has a score threshold for CLIs

My scores were 720-773 about 2 weeks ago when I requested and received a whopping $500 CLI, so scores without question aren't the only pieces to the Capital One puzzle.

Re: CAP 1 clearly has a score threshold for CLIs

Clearly when it comes to capital one nothing is truly clear. I have seen people with scores below 650 get CLI's of $2,000 on a $500 card and people above 650 get CLI's of $500. With Cap One scores matter to an extent, but they really like swipe spend and pay.

Re: CAP 1 clearly has a score threshold for CLIs

I wanted an CL also on my Venture's but their excuse was first: UT too high and it's at 9%!  Then came their second & third excuse: fico score was too low!  So I'm at 775.  That would mean they want to see maybe 800 fico & <1%.   I will keep trying to get my score up there but am still charging some home improvements.  Probably won't be finished until this time next year.

I've spent >3x my limit over the last couple months on my QS & still can't get more than 400 cli offer. If more than 3x your limit isn't considered heavy usage to Cap1 then wow. My Plat MC starter card got 1500 after 5 months with hardly any use, but my QS with heavy usage can't even get 500 after almost 7 months? Calling BS on usage as the key. It's just random computer BS imo.

Edit: LOL my new s7's auto-complete really butchered that post! Had to fix it on the computer~

Re: CAP 1 clearly has a score threshold for CLIs

Just out of curiosity, scores aside, are the folks who are getting low CLIs on their QS's card carriers who pc'd that QS from a Platinum or a QS1? Just wondering if the prior status as one of their "lower" tier cards carries weight on future CLI's on that card. V

I know I've read threads where old HSBC cards that were taken over by Cap1 had little to no growth and even difficulties in PC'ing. I'm wondering if there is similiar mindset with first being approved for a "lower tier" Cap1 card and then pc'ing that card?? Some kind of lower tier memory, maybe. The cards grow over time but are those cards slower to grow?
