Re: CAPITAL ONE COMBINDING ACCOUNTS

Thank you...do they pull your credit when applying for a combo?
Is it easier to apply online or call in?

No credit pull to combine, but unless it's just changed you must do it online; if you call they will direct you back to the website.  Smiley Wink

Thanks...one more question....do you have to accept immediately or can you come back and do it later?

You can go to the combine screen to see if your accounts are eligible... I actually check every so often just to 'make sure' I still have the ability.

I've never gone past selecting the 'recipient' account, but I'm fairly sure at the end you get a final chance to cancel before passing the 'point of no return'

Once you check out the screens, it will make more sense.  Smiley Wink

Account Combination

No Cards Eligible

No Cards EligibleSorry! None of your cards are currently eligible for an account combination.

There are several reasons why a card may not be eligible, here are the main ones:

  • Card accounts must be in good standing
  • Card accounts must be open for at least 6 months
  • One card account must have a $0 balance and no pending transactions
  • Card accounts must be linked in your online

***Don't know why I was denied...none of the above is true

Darn... I hate that you're getting that message.  Smiley Frustrated

You're not alone, though... in the 'big thread' in the main Credit card board, there are a lot of folks with the same problem.  Their accounts seem to meet all the requirements, but for some reason they get the same message.  Several folks have even escalated to the EO, with no luck.  Your Sony will likely never be eligible (co-branded cards aren't eligible) but your Platinum and QS1 should be assuming the qualifications are met.

Before giving up, make sure everything is the exact same on both accounts, particularly your name (middle initial?) and address is identical on both.  If your address is listed as 'Highway' on one card and 'Hwy' on the other, that could cause problems.  Other than that, there's not much you can do... hopefully they will eventually empower their CSRs with the ability to take care of this when the automation fails.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help.  Smiley Sad

Re: CAPITAL ONE COMBINDING ACCOUNTS

I've gotten the same thing the last 3 mo yoyo. I've converted both to QS products, made my name match on both cards, $0 balance you name it. All they'll say if you call in is check back as much as you like. If you figure it out let me know!
