CHASE freedom denial!

Hello guys!

Here is my story:I applied for Chase Freedom and my application was declined. I called the back door number and I talked with 2 people. The 1st one although she was nice she siad there was nothing that could be done to approve my application and encourage me to reapply in a few months. The 2nd one was initially rude and said that I see that you called 2 hours earlier and talked with  blah blah..... I tried to explain him my situation, why I am interested in freedom etc He put me on hold for a while and then came back and said that he still can not approve me.He mentioned the following reasons for declining my application: 1. short credit history, too many accounts open recently and high credit utilization(30%). I thanked him for trying and hung up.However I am gonna call them again tomorrow and i really hope that I will stay calm during the call cause i have the impression that they did a 2nd pull during the recon... (the 2nd person I talked to said that they pulled EX however today in the afternoon when I logged into my CK account I noticed that they also pulled TU). I am very pissed off cause very clealry I asked him if a recon will result in a new HP and he assured me that it won't. Anyway tomorrow In case they insist on denial or in case they will not remove the 2nd HP  I will let them know that i will close my checking account with them-something that I will do.(I have set up a direct deposit of my salary there and also my employer (a well known university)has an affiliation with Chase).

I do not know my fico scores (fako scores CK 643 EQ and 649 TU). Cards: BofA cash rewards 8,000$( 4,000$ CLI 3 days ago with a HP), cap1 platinum 1,500$ (automatic 1000$ CLI on Sunday), Cap1 journey 500$, discover it 1,000$. My first CC was BofA opened in October 2014. (no other type of credit bf that-moved to the US in July 2014).

6 inq TU and EX now and 5 EQ, 7 months credit history

Re: CHASE freedom denial!

Yes, Chase is a VERY strange animal. I got declined on 3 apps for Chase. SW, freedom and Marriott. I called once for SW talked to a super cool dude I was able to get approved for 2k that was 4 months ago. After I closed on my mortgage went on a app spree and applied for a few cards including freedom, I was initially declined called to recon then approved for 500 CL (woomp) .. But I still got it! Marriott card was declined even after I called 3 times to recon. I did tho call a few times to feel out the UW tone.. Some of those people hate their jobs and maybe their lives their so rude sometimes. You keep on trying!

For the Freedom card they frequently pull EX and TU at the time of application.  It may have not shown up for a bit, looking like they did it during recon.

Re: CHASE freedom denial!

Every Chase app has resulted in a pull on EX and TU for me. It's not because you recon'd

Re: CHASE freedom denial!

i don't think i would apply for anything, ever, without knowing my true fico scores.

give it a few months (6 months since last app is best), check the prequal and grab your chase card.   good luck   :]

@I agree with @elim... What are your FICOs?  Also, you have 30 days to recon with Chase so plenty of time to plan a strategy...

Re: CHASE freedom denial!

Making threats to close an account because your credit isnt up to their standards is a bad move. Just take some time, work on your profile and try again in 6 months.

Pestering them does not always yield results.

Re: CHASE freedom denial!

I have to agree with Numberz. It comes of as petty when you go that route.

Your Credit Karma scores indicate some potential of a deragatory on your reports. Is there any information on that? And as others had said, your FICO scores will help evaluate the situation a bit more.

A bit of advise from myself is to get on of their other cards that are easier to get first. I had my Amazon Visa for 6 months to get 'in' with Chase. 7 months later I got my Freedom with over twice the limit, and moved half of my Amazon limit over to my Freedom.

(started in the mid 500s on all 3, 11/13)
As of 5/22/15 EX: 698, EQ: 700, TU: 703
Barclay Rewards: $2750, Capital One Quicksilver one: $4300, Discover IT : $300, Amazon Visa: $100. Best Buy Credit Card: $3000, Kohl's Charge: $300, Express: $2600, Overstock $1650, Chase Freedom $4700, AMEX Everday $1500, Serta iComfort $4700, Walmart $1600, Target $300
