CLI Question

Hey everyone, I'm an AU on a Best Buy VISA. The limit is 2k. I figured maybe it would help to get a CLI to help keep my UTL down. The card was over the limit at one point because of my parents but it hasnt been in like 3 months. The balance on it is like 40 dollars or so. What are the odds of getting a CLI, should I wait longer, can I request it myself as an AU or do I have to have my dad do it since hes the main card holder? Any advice is apprecited! Thanks!

Re: CLI Question

I would think that the primary would have to request the CLI.  If the card was over the limit 3 cycles ago and now the balance is down to $40, that's actually a pretty good look in terms of a CLI request because A - you used the full limit recently and B - you recently paid it down to very low utilization.  I'd actually be surprised if you weren't given a CLI based on that behavior.

Re: CLI Question

I'm nearly positive, in fact, I am certain that an AU can't request a CLI.

It must be the account owner.

I would be deleting my sons immediately if they could make that request. LOL

That wasn't directed at you OP- just at my own circumstance. Smiley Wink

On the other hand, some issuers don't like over-the-limit behavior. Captial One will deny CLI requests if the customer has been over the limit within the past twelve months.
