How many new credit cards have you opened in the past 24 months?

Got about 5 store cards last year on top of amex and discover I got last week.
That sounds like you fall under the 5/24 rule (5 new cards within 24 months). If that's true you most likely won't be approved. "too many new accounts" will probably be the wording on any communication to you.
That being said 7-10 isn't always a bad thing. Lately that also seems to be the message when Chase needs to verify some sort of information from the applicant.
There is still hope! I had the same thing happen. When mine said that 2 days later I got a letter telling me they needed to verify some information on my application. I called in, and they verified my phone number and address and gave me an instant approval. I would hold off on the recon until you have some more information.

I'm just going to wait it out and see. Recon when I get some type of letter from them that it was decline.
If the letter says the denial was for too many new accounts, you would be wasting your time trying to recon.
