Re: CSP “auto approval” - I declined the offer

I held off that offer too. I just couldn't use the card after I earned the SUB. The offer disappeared. Then I got an offer for CFU. I had that card and PC'd it to CF in 2018. Since then DC nerfed some benefits. So I could keep it for extended warranty. Or maybe next year Chase has other offerings that I can PC to. If I don't want to keep it, I can roll it into my CF card. I'll still have a Chase cash back card in the end.

Haha, nice on holding out. I'm working my way to the Hyatt card. Congratulations on the offer and the ability to decline it.

Wasn't sure where to put this thread.

Got an email from Chase saying I was approved (not preapproved) for the CSP with 24.49% apr and a 8k credit line. All I had to do was agree to the terms and hit submit. The offers also showed when I logged into my account.

The itch was strong, especially since the CSP is my goal card. But I resisted the urge to scratch. The ointment helps.

2 reasons.

1. I want my scores to get above 720 so I can try for a 10k or above SL. The APR doesn't bother me since I PIF anyways.

2. Although I want to take advantage of that 60k bonus after 4k spend, I don't have $4000 worth of crap I need to buy right now. Not gonna put myself in debt for that.

They also auto approved me for the Southwest card with a 7k SL and a 25k auto loan with 5% interest for 60. I am looking for a vehicle but im not in a hurry for that one either since I want my scores to get above 740.

But I now understand the power of having good credit.

Im really happy to see I finally got approved for that card after 10 years of "no", but yea, I declined them.

The force is strong with this one ;-). Great move, just because you can doesn't mean you should, and when you do pull the trigger it will be that much sweeter.

Make sure to troll the auto forum if you're gearing up for an auto loan, a lot of great information and DP's there!

Yes, waiting a bit longer can yield nice benefits long term.

I wasn't expecting so much positive feedback. For some reason I was thinking I might be called a fool for not taking it and was contemplating whether I should make the post or not haha.

All the info I received is really helpful. Im going to wait til my credit improves and apply then. I'll definitely keep everyone posted.

Definitely good approach. Wait until something comes up that you REALLY want. Then you are in great position because you haven't gone after all the dangling fruit that was in front of you.

How do you get that pre-approval window in Chase?

I have never received one  for any kind of product.
